Yes, once you start using the Shadow DOM polyfill all nodes needs to be wrapped by the Shadow DOM polyfill.

It's completely true that ShadowDOM Polyfill wraps *all* nodes when it's enabled. This is necessary to keep it (99%) transparent.

But for the record, x-tags or custom-elements will not automatically start using shadow roots. IOW, you don't get shadow dom *encapsulation* unless you ask for it.

If this distinction is confusing to anybody, please follow up.
