Hello Openfcst Team,

I am really having problems installing and running Openfcst. I am trying to install and run it in windows 10. So I installed Virtualbox and downloaded the 10 GB .ova file recommended in this forum and tried to run it as prescribed in the user guide. But as soon as I start running it the OpenfcstSUSU environment starts and asks for a login password for 3 different options: Plasma 5, iceWM and KDE plasma workplace. What do I do? Also a list of system requirements have been given in the user manual, am I suppose to download all of them or are they all pre-present in Openfcst?

Please help me with the installation and accessing the examples.

Regards,
Kaushik

Hello Kaushik,

Glad to know you managed to start the virtual machine. In order to log in to the system, please use login openfcst and password fcst. The options that you have listed, Plasma 5, iceWM, and KDE plasma are simply different desktop environments that come with OpenSUSE (and define the looks and functionality of the operating system). We recommend using Plasma 5. Once you logged in, you will see an icon of OpenFCST GUI on the desktop, from where you can launch it.

All system requirements should be satisfied in the virtual machine that you have downloaded, so there is nothing else you need to install to run OpenFCST.

Our tutorial has detailed instructions on how to run pre-defined examples in OpenFCST. Since you said you are not feeling very comfortable with new software, it would be a good idea to stick to the GUI as it is the easiest interface for new users.

Let us know if you have further questions.
