Hi I haven’t as yet. My wife has Addison’s and the idea is the pump administers cortisol instead of insulin. It’s been trialed around the world so hoping we can find a pump cheap enough for the trial. It may be ok long term too?! Thanks Dave

Ok. I donated one to someone on git and I saw it for sale on Craigslist for $1500. I made sure they weren’t just using my pics, so I asked for fresh puctures with hand written date on it. That pump sold after an hour on Craigslist full price. So, that’s it for me. Hope you find what u need. Mine will be on Craigslist by tmrw at full price. I learned my lesson. Im eating scrambled eggs twice a day because I’m so broke, and getting suckered out of $1500. If you’re wife is ill, I hope you find what you need. Gl

Can you please share the details (including the evidence that they resold your pump)? This kind of behavior cannot be tolerated in this community, and we need to make sure people know to avoid anyone who takes advantage of others like this.

That’s so devastating to hear, especially when my wife struggles with work and it becomes hard yards to purchase such devices. We are on the look out for a second hand pump as we can’t afford a new one, ours is for a condition called Addison’s, not what the pump was intended for but trials are going on presently.
It’s unfortunate yet typical of today’s humanity good will gets thrown in the face.

David, You looking specifically for a loopable pump with correct firmware,  etc, or is a non-loopable pump satisfactory for your purpose?

Hi AB, I’ll be honest I’m not overly sure, I probably need to do more research but from looking a don’t believe it matters. All I was told was I needed a Paradigm 715 or 722 or go for the Minimed 640G or 670G models, if I had the money of course. This isn’t to be used for insulin, my wife has Addison’s, and they have utilised an insulin pump, as mentioned, to deliver Cortisol, named “Cortisol Pump”. The idea is we get the pump, and we work with the endo to set up the levels correctly over the coming months.

David,

If you aren't intending to build a closed loop, you can also get a non-loopable 723 or 530G.  Because they can't be used to build a DIY closed loop, those newer pumps tend to be cheaper on the used market than loopable ones.

I have gone out to someone who has built one of these before for an answer on the loopable requirement. I’m sure they’ll know ;) if that’s correct I’ll check out the 723 and 530G also, many thanks Scott

A non loopable pump might be easier to find. You could search the Medwow site for 'medtronic paradigm' and get quite a few listings.

I can't say I'd exactly recommend using Medwow, but I was able to get one, using Paypal's buyer protection, when I couldn't locate one elsewhere. I looked for a recent listing, near me - and didn't ask a lot of questions. I picked up a 722 for $400 and felt pretty confident it would work. I'm sure people have horror stories as well, but it worked out for me.

Good luck!

Phil: I am really sorry to hear about your pump being listed after you donated it. I've seen that happen with insulin on the pay it forward Facebook groups and it's really upsetting.

Thanks for all the help. I’ve since found out I don’t need it to be loopable, adrenal pumps just aren’t that advanced yet. I’ll check out some of those other pumps.
Cheers

This individual is a well-known scammer attempting to impersonate anyone he can to sell his unsafe non-FDA-approved pump.

He is *not* affiliated with OpenAPS in any way.  Please ignore him.  I've blocked this particular account, but his habit is to continue creating sock puppet accounts and replying to himself, so don't be surprised if he pops back up.  We'll keep playing whack-a-mole until he loses interest and finds some other community to try to scam.

I know this thread is done but I thought I'd pass this along. Can't
vouch for this but looks to me like a pretty good deal if you do it
with the buyer protection on paypal (and the seller actually responds)
But's a relatively recent listing:

Hi. Did you find the pump you needed i have a Medtronic paradigm that I no longer need. As just been upgraded. I would love to give it to someone who really needs it but am reading so much about scams etc. I am in England and the pump was given free on nhs so to profit would be very wrong.

Oh Carrie!
I stopped looking for the pump exactly because of the scams and the high prices people were looking for!
It would really help if you could help us!
We live in Mexico, but I have people traveling from France to Mexico soon, maybe that could work?

Please let me know.
Best!

We are selling two Medtronic Minimed Veo Insulin Pumps and they’re in great condition!

Selling due to pump upgrades

They are both the same except the smaller one has a 1.8mm insulin reservoir whereas the larger one has a 3mm reservoir.

Both are in full working order with only minor cosmetic scratches and scuffs. These pumps are perfect for any diabetic looking to gain greater control of their BGL’s and have a much more flexible lifestyle then using conventional needle injections. Firmware is 3.1 and 2.8 respectively.

Happy to sell individually or as a pair. Price is negotiable!

Can you please specify the firmware version of the 523, and list an offer price for each (even if it’s flexible/negotiable)?

Thanks,
Scott
