Thanks to Michael Bianco for helping motivate me to move Open Source Catholic's website from a Drupal 7 site to Jekyll/GitHub Pages—everything has been migrated across, and you can read more about the migration here.

We'll be moving all public communications from Flocknote to this new Google Groups-powered mailing list, and I'm planning on making that announcement separately on the Flocknote list (so people can more easily find out about the transition).

Please feel free to post to this mailing list with development questions, requests for help, open source discussion (as it relates to Church-related work), etc.!

Some formatting/markup may have been lost in the process. I noticed that this post has every point as "1.":

Congrats!

Fixed, thanks for finding that! There are definitely a bunch of posts that will need some tweaks...

Cool, did it require making one-off changes by hand?

The new site does look quite nice, it's simpler and sleeker. Less widgets  ;-)

Slack may be a good alternative to the IRC chat (I don't know if anyone's in there, didn't check).

All the content is now stored as one markdown file per-post, so it's just a matter of reformatting the HTML a little into the correct Markdown syntax (which often results in much easier to read markup regardless!).

Slack is an option someday, but rather than have an OSC-specific chat/channel, we're encouraging general participation in the ##Catholic channel, which existed well before OSC's time, and has around 20-30 people in it most days.

Slack is great for smaller and/or more focused teams, but IMO it's too much power/notification intensity for a more general, distributed, and low-frequency-posting group like ours... That could of course change if all the sudden the OSC community starts going gangbusters on some new projects!

I have used Slack very little, and only recently for a Clojure group.
It seems like it has some nice features; in particular that you get persistent history without running your own bouncer on a server somewhere.

I wasn't aware that ##catholic was a preexisting channel.

Thanks for all your hard work here jeff! The Catholic dev community isn't huge, but having systems that can be managed distributively should help it grow.

Hello, I am looking for a Catholic Web developer who might help by answering some questions for a web project that may help our Church.
Thank you,
W Dunn
