Calibration Stuck w/AM5 mount

RE: 2.6.11dev4 with ZWO ASI174mm Mini and AM5 mount

I made some changes to my imaging train which includes an OAG so I needed to recalibrate PHD2. I also changed the binning on the guide cam to 1 so I rebuilt the dark library successfully last night too. I have successfully used PHD2 previously; e.g. calibration/guiding/etc. However, last night every time I attempted to calibrate it would get stuck after the first command: "West step 1, dist= 0.0”. Last nights logs:

I tried various things to get it to work, such as rebooting the computer; power cycling the mount, guide cam, etc.;reinstall ZWO Ascom drivers and native camera drivers. One other thing to note was that I had upgraded the ASI Camera Driver from 3.20 to 3.21 prior to the evening and didn’t have time to downgrade it before the clouds rolled in. The cameras seemed to be working ok. Also, there was a short period of time last night where the old calibration was used and I saw the guiding was working (e.g. commands to the AM5 mount to adjust seemed to be working).

I could use some guidance on what further steps to take when I get another clear night.

Hi Kurt

I think your issue is the step size you have entered is 144050ms so your first step is about 2 1/2 minutes

I suggest you do a new setup via the new profile wizard

Creating a new profile fixed whatever problem I was suck on. Don’t waste your time looking at the logs unless you want to try to figure out what happened to my profile to cause this.

I hope you got my earlier response with the reason and suggesting you create a new profile as the best remedy?

If you need to make changes to anything that's going to affect the image scale - binning or focal length - you need to create a new profile. If you change the mount guide speed for some reason, you should also create a new profile. These things all have a strong influence on internal settings including the calibration step-size.

Ahh, thank you. That makes sense. I do recall getting a warning message when I changed the binning. I don’t remember the exact wording but I think it directed me to redoing the calibration as a result of the binning change. Perhaps those fields that change the image scale should be disabled on an existing profile with a tool tip saying to change them you must create a new profile. Just an idea to idiot proof the UI a bit (referring to myself here). Thanks again for looking at my report and explaining things.
