Thank you! I downloaded and moved to Applications, but when I double click and confirm the pop-up window Open, the Checkmate icon appears and disappears within seconds, and the app is not opening. Java version I have is 17.0.1
Could you please help figure this out?

Thank you!

Sorry, I don’t have a Mac, so I can’t really test anything.

Maybe someone else working with a Mac can help you.

Tanya,

If you're trying to run Checkmate on IOS (Ipad ?) it won't work.

You need (at least) a Mac to use checkmate.

Tanya,

I just checked CheckMate on my BigSur machine and it worked.

1. open Terminal

2. type "java -version" to check which version of Java you use:

mine is:

openjdk version "11.0.13" 2021-10-19
OpenJDK Runtime Environment Temurin-11.0.13+8 (build 11.0.13+8)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM Temurin-11.0.13+8 (build 11.0.13+8, mixed mode)

3. paste the *full path* to checkmate.sh

for ex:

/Users/suzume/Downloads/okapi-apps_cocoa-macosx-x86_64_1/CheckMate.app/Contents/MacOS/checkmate.sh

4. hit Enter

Hello, I don't have the okapi-apps_cocoa-macosx-x86_64_1 folder: I only have it as a .dmg, which unpacks to be the Okapi_1.42.0 folder. I run the command

Users/tbadeka/Downloads/Okapi_1.42.0/CheckMate.app/Contents/MacOS/checkmate.sh   and get the same error.

I downloaded Okapi from here - second link from the top. Is it the right one?

Tanya,

I tried with the download you indicated and my local Java 17 version.

Things work without issue. It's getting late here so I leave it up to others to try to help you with your issue. Good luck !

Tanya,

Good morning !

I don't suppose your Java version is at fault. But could you try to temporarily install the Eclipse OpenJDK at
https://adoptium.net and see if things work better with it ?
