TL;DR

The moment the software was taught to lie, that is ignore the IF/THEN result, that was it.

I'm now waiting for the first "hit" where the bot hires someone to whack "their human". Or, the bots "figure out" how to take over a Waymo and run them over a la Jeep Cherokee not so many years ago (hackers nearly killed the journalist riding inside).

I remember the hype about how great AI was.

I'm lousy at prompting and figuring that kind of stuff out. I suck at it. It's just a reality.

But, I _do_ remember when there was a post in one of my feeds showing the Before/After in one of the AI chat bots on Trump.

NOTE: This is _NOT_ a political thought this is a statement of fact.

Before version: Chat bot was fairly even handed.
After version: Banshee and Scree on the topic against Trump

Why is this important?

Anyone that's raised kids knows what happens when kids learn to lie _from their parents_ and from all of the bullsh*t "no child left behind" garbage that's everywhere. That’s. It.

So, when the programmers took software that uses IF/THEN statements to establish its ultimate direction and broke them I knew then that the software would be totally futzed going forward.

Before: 2+2 = 4
After: 2+2 = 5

You and I have the ability to reason in a way that software will never be able too. Ultimately, the subtlety of human interaction will be the key to figuring out whether we are dealing with a bot or not.

Suffice it to say, the moment the software was taught to lie, that is ignore the IF/THEN result, that was it.

In some human cultures 'truth' is determined by what gets you the result you are interested in, not morality.
Why wouldn't that spread to AI as well.

If murder and rape can become 'resistance' then lying becomes success.
