I'm restoring an old Loewe-Opta Meteor radio and need a new EM4 Magic eye tube....any one have one they want to sell/trade?

EM4s (CV1434) are pretty rare and expensive and old ones are often in poor condition. The 6CD7, EM34, CV394, 6M2, and 64ME are exact equivalents. The EM4 has a German P8A locking base...

You can replace them with alternatives such as the far cheaper Russian 6E5C, e.g. http://www.radiomuseum.org/forum/replacing_the_em4_by_the_6e5c.html

I can get here an EM4 (NOS, European make brand unknown)) for € 50,- excluding shipment, Also one with the scarse yellowish phosphor!

If necessary, I will do the efforts for you.

Consider there are two makes: one with a normal glass envelope and one with a sunken front.

Further the EM 34 is electricallt eaqual, but has an octal base istead of the 8-pin P-base.

Thanks to everyone for the very helpful comments! This is my first radio restoration (have really fallen in love with the design of 50's/v early 60's tube radios...) and it's more a cosmetic restoration as the internals still appear to work well (except the EM4). This particular radio has an adjustable mount for the EM4, so different tolerances should be fine.

Thanks to Nick for the equivalents. Thanks to Dan for looking in his stash and thanks to Eric for the kind offer of sourcing one for me. I'll PM people to pursue..

If you go for the EM-34 and change the socket, you may then be able to use the 6CD7, CV394, 6M2 or a 64ME which I have as equivalent numbers for the EM-34. Good luck with whatever you do. Radio and television restoration can be quite rewarding,  Ira.
