Hi, everyone!

The MLO Team is glad to announce that MyLifeOrganized 2 for Android went live! We have started to release MLO 2 gradually in November, adding more devices day by day. And, from this moment, the new version is available for all the devices and users, both on our website and Google Play.

We can say with proud that the new version for Android is mostly as powerful, as MLO for Desktop, and your favorite mobile task manager now works as hard, as you do. And this power is combined with all-new, material design UI! More on this right here.

We also want to thank our beta testing team. Guys, you’re the best! With your help, we were able to create a great product, which can now make the life of so many people more organized.

Sincerely yours,
The MyLifeOrganized Team

that's great, I got the new android app.  Now tell me how to log into the cloud to download my stuff. I'm stuck where it's asking me for my password.  I didn't know I even had one.  How do I get a new one?

Hi, Tommy. I assume that you have MLO for Windows? If so, select
Synchronization from the File menu. On the Syncronization window, click
"edit" (assuming you have a profile already set up, otherwise click "new").

On the Sync Profile window, click the button for Synch to MLO Cloud etc.
and then the button for Setup Connection.

On the MLO Cloud Connection window, the email address should already be
there, if not, enter it. Then click Forgot Password. A browser window
will open with a password recovery pag

Hi Marina, awesome tool! I really like the new layout and functionality. I have a couple of questions: I used to be able to add tasks by voice, is that still available?
I was trying to use the flag view but it does not seem to recognize my flags already there?? Can we add remove or filter on flags in the android mlo2 tablet version?

Hi, Marc. I will leave it to someone else to tell you what V2 can and can't do with flags, but I can answer the voice input question. There is a 1x1 widget called "MLO Shortcut" that's available by itself or embedded into the 2x2 "MLO Widget". You can find it wherever your phone keeps its available widgets. When you install it, you will get a setup screen showing (among other things) shortcut action, with a default setting "add task". Change the action to "add task by voice" and save.

How do I downgrade from v2 back to my previous, paid version? I tried version 2, great and all, but I do not wish to pay 25 dollars to upgrade to it right now, so I simply wish to use my old version as it was.

Hi Riaan,

As a registered MLO user, you have $10 discount for the upgrade, so you have to pay only $15. If you still wish to get back to MLO 1, just contact our support operators: sup...@mylifeorganized.net. They will give you all the information regarding this.

I am running MLO 2 on a Galaxy Grand Prime. It works awesome except for one major problem. Each time I add a new task, either the device keyboard does not appear or stays frozen. So essentially, I can't add a new task on the phone. I use this mainly to compliment MLO for Windows in tracking tasks on the go. But it is equally important to be able to add a tasks as soon as I remember it.

Not sure if this has already been reported by other users. BTW, I have been using MLO since the first version, and the product is simply awesome and incomparable for GTD nerds like me! Hoping to see a web version soon!

Cheers!

Dear MLO,

Thank you for the great update. On Google Play you suggested to write my suggestions here on the forum:

- when I click on the reminder, with one click I can snooze 5 min. I never use it. It is more likely that I snooze 4 hours or 1 day or more. It would be good if on this activity I can choose from minutes-hours-days (which is an option now with long press and plus one click)
- if I add a new task with reminder (on the widget) it would be good to be able to set repeated alerts on this screen, without going to edit task - advanced - repeated alerts.
- on the task / reminder section it would be nice to include the repeated reminders on a tab and not in the menu.

Best Regards,
Balint Toth

Derek, if you are looking for help with an issue please start a new thread. Creating a reply to am announcement of a new release is likely to get your issue overlooked and lost.

I'm assuming that you have gotten your saved views into the MLO app itself and that the only issue is getting them displayed in the MLO widget, right? OK, so open the widget and tap on the three-dots menu icon in the upper right corner. From the menu that comes up select "Widget Settings" and then the second item in the settings menu is "select view". Two cautions: (1) If you have multiple profiles on your phone, make sure that the profile selected in the first item in widget settings is the same profile as the one where you saved your view, and (2) if the view is hidden in the app it will be hidden in the widget as well.

Hello Marina,

the MLO app for android is very helpful.

Ist there a roadmap for further integrations into the android system or with other apps, like other task managers have it?

As email so often bewcome tasks, and one not only needs the text but also the original email, it would be very helpful if one could not only send an email to mlo, but if the link to the original email was included.

Even better would be an integration in email apps on android, so i can turn a mail directly into a task including a link to the original email.

Or Integration with IFTTT.

Anything planned in this direction?

Maybe MLO could provide a roadmap on the blog, that is something i´ve seen on other app websites, last example coming to mind is Slack.

Kind regards, Carsten

Hi, Carsten.
I share your interest in better integrations for MLO.
FYI I recently wrote an IFTTT recipe triggered by tagging a note in Evernote; the triggered action was to call Gmail to forward the note to the MLO sync server's Task By Emsil address. In other words, tag an Evernote and it appears as a task in MLO. I am not using this recipe because fater tagging a note, it would take 30 to 45 mjnutes for the task to appear. Most if that time was waiting for IFTTT to trigger, do there isn't much that MLO could do to improve it.

You make an interesting request for a link to an email. I've seen that kind of thing on Windows. But I don't recall seeing any kind of link that wpuld open an already -received email. Do you know any app that does that?

Hello Dwight,

there is one which I found recently called iqtell. If you create a task or project from an email, the original email will be linked to the task and archived for later.

Carsten, MLO has a different purpose than IQtell.
I used IQtell heavily, their goal is great but they handed it very bad.
Their servers are often screwed and i let you imagine what happens to your your tasks by email when servers are offline and you have no access.
My combination is MLO+Fastmail

Francesco, thanks for the tip. How long has it been since you used iqtell? I've not experienced any problems with them so far and I've not found any taskmanager on Android with such consistently high rankings.

It happens on May 2015: a complete server offline lasted 6 hours (i'm GMT+1) when they woke up (GMT-5) and refreshed the servers. All Europeans alone with no support and voice from them. May be you didn't experience it because you are american? I decided to stop with them. They don't have a european support branch team. After that episode i said to myself to rely on own local DB only, so i approached MLO. Rest is history.

Hi, Francesco, Carsten.
IQTell was a great answer to my question, because it showed me where my thinking was going off the tracks. I am now envisioning a proposal like the following, which I think is valuable and feasible. Does this correspond with what you were thinking, Carsten>

Proposal:
The Task By Email service should retain a complete copy of every email that it processes. It should include a link in the notes area of each created task that points to the original (retained) email. At a minimum, a click on the link would raise a display of the original email in a browser window. As a possible alternative the MLO app could retrieve the original email from the server (using the link) and display it locally. The subscription for cloud sync could include a basic allocation of storage space for messages. When the basic space is full, users could pay for additional space or old messages would be deleted to make room for new messages. The display of original messages would honor all RTF or HTML formatting, embedded graphics, attached files, etc. There are presumably plenty of open source message display programs that could be used. In addition to the basic concept of displayong the original message, this could be used to meet user requirements for rich text notes, attached documents, etc.

My thinking went off the tracks because I was trying to envision a way to make an existing email client like the Gmail app or the k9 thirdparty Android email app provide a link that would raise a display of a retained email.

Certainly what I would want to see, thanks Dwight for getting so elaborate about it. Only addition: far as I understand iqtell doesn't store the email themselves. They simply link to your existing emailaccounts and display/retrieve from there. Advantage would be that no extra storage at MLO would be needed, so no extra charges.

Thanks Carsten but this is where I loose you. I try not to make any request of the MLO devs unless I believe that it is able to be implemented with a reasonable effort and that the benefit is high in relation to the cost.

I understand how one can submit a new email to a message transfer agent; I understand how one can receive email content through Android Share, save a copy of the content and link to the saved content.  But I don't have any idea how one can cause an email app like Gmail or K9 or even the Android stock Mail app to expose a link to its own copy of a specific messafe.

Does anyone else know how to do this?

I was just trying to explain what I understood from working with iqtell and from reading their manual what they seem to be doing, I.e. linking to an email. I know that when using Gmail in a browser you can see the link in the address bar. But I'm no n technician so I don't know iqtell extracts that link. They are not the only ones doing that though. I currently use another very good task app called gqueues that does the same, but they only manage to link to an email when you use it in a browser, not on Android.

I've been following this particular thread and found it interesting. Starting from MLO on mobile hasn't worked well for me. However, if I start the process from MLO for Windows, the mobile versions provide outstanding usability. I use MLO on 3 Windows machines, an Apple iPhone, and two Android tablets. I use Outlook on all of my Windows computers with the Evernote plug-in. I save an actionable (or referenceable) e-mail to Evernote, then save the link to the e-mail in Evernote in the notes section of MLO for any actionable e-mail. This way the e-mail is accessible anywhere on any device from MLO (and Evernote). I have all my e-mails that require action in MLO via linking from Evernote as just described. Most of the processing stage of my GTD practice happens in Evernote, with only actions being sent to MLO. It works great for me, albeit it requires a few steps so it took a little while for it to feel natural. Now, it's habit and a side benefit is that it allows me to use GTD's 2-minute rule in Outlook to determine if it's something that even needs to be sent to Evernote and/or MLO. Quite a few e-mails never make it to Evernote, and therefore never make it to MLO because there's no action required.

Thanks for the case study Brian.

I have a couple of questions.

One is that several people have mentioned how desirable it would be to have the link in an MLO Task Note bring you back to a source document in the app that manages it  and not in a browser. It looks to me as though when you click an Evernote link in a task note, It will  raise the Evernote in a browser window. But I'm guessing that if you click the email link in the Evernote it will raise the original email in the Outlook app.

Is this correct? If not, how does it actually work? Do you have any issues or concerns with how this is working out?

Mulling it over, I think that I can see one clear advantage, which is that three or so clicks from the task note will get you to the full listing of the email headers in the original message. Sometimes you need that.

Other question, what stops you on mobile? I don't know anything about iPhone but on my Android phone I use the k-@tmail app as my email client. while reading an email, it takes about five clicks to pass the email content through the Android "share" mechanism to MLO, save it as a task and return to reading my mail. In the same five or so clicks I could have made the email into an Evernote, and then linked the Evernote to MLO they way that you are doing it. The main issue that I can see it that everything is working off of a copy of the email body text and title, so you don't have header info. Is that the issue?

Hi, m (?)
Assuming that you mean MLO2 for Android,

From any task list, find the task you want to skip and swipe across it right to left. This bring up the task preview.  Right under the recurrence information you will see a big green button "Skip Occurrence." Tap it to get a popup with a choice to skip just the current occurrence or to skip all up to today.  See attached screenshot. Note that the button will only  appear if the talk is repeating and overdue.
