I'm still using an older version of MLO on my phone because I re-use lists regularly.  The ability to reset a list (complete/uncomplete a branch) is an important function for me that I use every day.  Without this function, MLO 2 is is very impractical for me.

Are there plans to restore "complete branch" and "uncomplete branch" functionality?

If there are no such plans,is there a way I can purchase and download the previous version of MLO for my tablet so that I can have this functionality on my tablet as well?

Thanks.

Hi mate
I dont see any problem with your request.

If you want to reuse the same list just create a tree where the parent task is reccuring.

Example
PARENT TASK (RECCURING)
-children 1
-children 2
.....
-children n

Then in the Recurrence settings you can choose to reset to uncomplited all child when you complete the parent.

Also, you can set to automatically reset all child when all of them are completed.

Just play with recurrence settings.

Another way is to create a TEMPLATES folder in your tree. Add to that folder your reusable lists.
When you need to use one of them, just copy it and paste somewhere above or below the TEMPLATES folder.

Hi Andrew,

I have quite a few lists I re-use for various things.  It seems unnecessarily complicated to play with recurrence settings for each of my lists when a simple complete or uncomplete pop-up menu option used to make list completion/uncompletion a simple task without playing with settings.  In addition, I’d have to purchase the advanced recurrence option in order to try it to see if it is an effective replacement for what already works so well in the previous version of MLO.

I’m fine with paying for the simplicity of the complete/uncomplete option that was previously available on older versions of MLO, but not for the complexity of settings adjustments for all of my lists.

Does MLO have any plans to bring this previous simplicity to the current version?  If not, I’d like to purchase an older version so that I may have this simplicity on my tablet.  Is there a way I can do that?

Thanks for your response,

John

I could be incorrect - but in the current version (and versions prior) you can right click on a list, select Advanced, and either "complete task and all subtasks" or "Uncomplete task and all subtasks". Is this not what you are looking for?

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for your response.  You are correct, I can right click on on a list item on my computer to get to the complete/uncomplete options, but this option has been removed from the mobile versions of MLO 2 in Android.

With MLO 1, I can tap and hold a list item to get a pop-up menu with easy access to the complete/uncomplete options.  This is handy when I'm not near my computer and saves me addition steps (logging into my computer, synchronizing, completing/uncompleting, re-synchronizing) when I am near my computer, as opposed to simply right clicking on my handheld device without all the extra steps.

I do realize this is a first world problem, at the same time the whole point of a mobile app is to simplify and not complicate, which MLO 1 did nicely for this particular feature.  It doesn't make sense to me that such a useful existing feature would be removed and never re-implemented as the new version is updated. Is the MLO team fundamentally opposed to making this useful feature available again on the mobile Android platform?

If this useful feature is re-implemented I'd be happy to pay for the upgrade and maybe even for in-app purchases - I'm always happy to support a useful app and those who create it.  If there are no plans to re-implement this feature then I'd be happy to pay for the older version for my tablet so I can continue using the version that's been working for me so well on my phone.  It would be a step backwards for me to move to MLO 2 at this point because this complete/uncomplete feature is critical for my day to day usage of the mobile app.

Please let me know if a simple complete/uncomplete will be added to MLO 2, or where I can purchase a version of MLO 1 for my tablet.  I'll be happy either way.

Thanks.

Have I made an unreasonable request/inquiry?

Can you provide a screenshot of the function for MLO1 and MLO2?
This will be helpful. :-)

I don't think you've made an unreasonable request. For what it's worth, I don't see an ability to easily do what you're asking in MLO2 on Android, and I can certainly understand why you would like to have that functionality back.

However, because you're asking about getting a copy of an older version of the application, you might have better luck emailing sup...@mylifeorganized.net.  While there are posts and assistance from the MyLifeOrganized team here from time to time, the majority of the interactions in the forum are really user-to-user. Several of us can help you determine if something can be done in the current version, but we can't tell you if a particular piece of functionality is planned to be added or restored, and we can't get older versions for you.

Thanks Trish,

I appreciate the clarification of the purpose of these forums and your confirmation that I'm not just overlooking how to use the functionality I'm looking for in MLO 2.

I misunderstood - I thought MLO support was more involved in this forum.  I'll contact them directly at the e-mail you provided.

Thanks everyone for your responses,

John

Hi Mok,

I just noticed your message.  I've attached the screen shot from MLO 1 - I press and hold a task and this menu pops up allowing me to easily complete or uncomplete a branch.  Very handy.

I can't provide a screenshot of this for MLO 2 because this option does not exist there.

Thanks for your time on this,

John

I too have missed this feature for many years, which I used every day in Android V!. I have tried using the recurrence settings, but this is awkward and forces me to use dates when I don't want to.

I have remembered a way of doing this on Android. You first have to make a repeating task on the desktop version, and delete the Regenerate next task field. If you then synchronize your file to Android, you have a task that, when clicked as done, uncompletes itself and all subtasks. Once that task is in an Android file, it can be copied and used for multiple checklists. However you need to have a copy of the desktop version to accomplish this.
