We are now starting the series of articles on MyLifeOrganized for Windows v.5 with one of the new interesting features - Markdown. It is a lightweight markup language and, as you will see, it is a sophisticated notes editing tool which significantly enhances formatting potential. Nice introduction in the blog.  I commented there:

I like Markdown, because it's lightweight and designed to make sense if you read it in a plain text editor.

The only thing I had to get used to is that a single tap of the enter key gets ignored as a new line. I have to remember to press Enter twice to get a new paragraph on anything except bulleted and numberd lists.

I must be dense: tools>options>appearance but all I see are the task parameter checkboxes.  Where is Markdown?

FYI I am using 5.0.0.3012

Michael:

It’s separated a bit below the parameter checkboxes. Perhaps you need to scroll?

Also, you may need to update your beta.

Cheers,

Thank you for the comment, Steph. I experienced the same difficulties first, but later it became a habit.

Your current private beta version 5.0.0.3012 is outdated a bit. You need to download the latest public beta.

I'm trying to get familiar with Markdown.  I can some advantages but also some disadvantages.

Tables:
It seems that some implementations of Markdown support tables but the MLO implementation does not, correct?
Is there a way to vertically alight text into columns?  Like one would do with a table or using <tab>?

New Line:
Is there a way to get text onto a new line without having to double-return?
A single-return works well in the edit-view but then wraps in preview.
A double-return works well in preview but spreads out the text too much in edit-view.

Very nice new features! However, since it is not supported by the Android MLO2 app it is not very usable for me. Any idea when the Android app will be updated to support this as well?
Thanks,

Actually, considering the small space available for the notes pane, I now know that it's better to use double-space and Enter for a new line, rather than pressing Enter twice. Thanks to whoever pointed that out to me!
