Hi,

I find it convenient in making notes related to tasks/subtasks in an external editor.  Sometimes it might be intuitive to add pictures
to give more information related to tasks.  So it makes sense in MLO providing interface to an external applications.

Is that something that MLO provides today ? Couldn't get any info related to that as I searched for that in the doc or the options
in the MLO app.

Appreciate the clarification.
Sri

HI,

We strive to keep the app lightweight, therefore we are opposed to the attached files. However, there is a compromise solution in MLO 5 on Windows that allows add media to the tasks. Here you can learn how Markdown works: https://www.mylifeorganized.net/support/notes-formatting-with-Markdown/

Hi Sri,

I do not use attachments, rather I use the "link to file" feature you can add in the notes section of a task.

This is more helpful to me than an attachment, especially if the attachment is a file that is changing (such as an Excel file that I'm working on).

To use the link, right click in the notes and select "link to file".

Good luck!

  • Markdown (a slippery slope that should be quickly abandoned by the developer IMO)
  • file links
in the notes section?

In my personal experience, attaching random files of indeterminate size quickly makes a program unusable.

It could be useful to encode something to Base64 used in MIME and include that in the notes. This stores any file as text inline. For example I have "rcs-5.9.2.tar.xz.sig" and here it is encoded using a tool (Notepad++)

y4ZGBCARAiAGBQJSy5w2fSANCgkQZwMiJEzigqx1AsOCw4Agxbh5w7fCvTnCgcucwqwrw4t9PT3CpFHDmAdkwqrCoMOAIMKgxbgHwoHDhTHCsjc64oCww5ANCsKkYsOOfVExw6V+FQ==

So from this text you can use a simple tool to paste the above encoded text and decode it back to binary. This is basically how attachments work in email.

I would hope there is a clipboard MIME tool that's easy for non-technical users but I have not found one.

I use vim/gvim as an editor and it is quicker to do the editing using gvim. Notes can have lot of information. So I thought the description and summary can remain in the MLO notes section and the rest in an external file for which the links could be provided.

For markdown I have been using Wikidpad, and it has folding mechanism which is very good and folding can provide just enough information and the folds can be opened for details.

I thought we follow the links only for details as we start working on the tasks not while working on reviews. So a little delay in following the links might be justified.

I hope the delay wouldn't be too much of an issue.

Do you support javascript ? Folding is a very good feature to have so we can hide additional details to show
only the outline.

Thanks,
Sri

Hi

Could you please clarify if folding option is supported in this version of Markup language?

Thanks
