I'm wanting to set up a reminder on a particular date, but it's not really for a "task." It's just to remind me that a service to which I subscribe is about to renew.

Do you guys use MLO for that kind of reminder? If so, can you set it up without attaching it to a task, so that it just pops up at the reminder time?

Or do you use something outside of MLO for that?

Yes, I use MLO for this purpose. Even if something auto-renews, that’s a good time to spend at least a second or two asking yourself if the service is still worth having.

In practical terms, I make a “Renew <service>” task, with a note that this auto-renews. I set a reminder for the day before the auto-renewal. If it’s a service I’m on the fence about continuing, I might also set a Start Date. I would think that setting a Review date might work as well.

Generally speaking, I wouldn’t get hung up on whether something is a “task” in the sense of I have to *do* something. If you need your memory jogged for whatever reason, that’s good enough to put it in MLO.

That sounds very reasonable, Mike. Thanks for the idea!
