I don't have problems and use MLO on my phone and Windows.  If you open, close, or leave MLO inactive for 10 minutes it gets sync'd.....

From the MLO Help file:

Here is the full algorithm of the autosync in MyLifeOrganized for Windows.

1. When MLO is started (or new data file is opened) the check for the cloud changes initiated. If there are cloud changes the autosync is started immediately (to get modifications from the cloud before you start working with MLO on desktop).

2. When MLO is being closed (or current data file is being closed) and there are local modifications the autosync is started (to send local modifications to the cloud ).

3. If MLO is running and there is full inactivity on your computer for 8-10 min and there are local modifications the autosync is started (to send the local modifications to the cloud after you have already left your computer).

4. If MLO is running and there was inactivity on your computer for more than 10 min and you started using the computer after this long inactivity the check for the cloud changes initiated. If there are cloud changes the autosync is started (to get possible modifications from the cloud before you continue working with MLO on desktop)

5. If MLO is running but has not been used for more than 10 min and you started using MLO after this long delay the check for the cloud changes initiated. If there are cloud changes the autosync is started (to get possible modifications from the cloud before you continue working with mlo on desktop)

Same for me: it does not follow the algorithm and the sync does not work after "8-10 min" inactivity. Indeed 8 or 10 mintues? why this range is mentioned? Both on Win XP and Win 7.

Any ideas?

I would like to see the interval made to be configurable, but that said, When I had that issue something on my computer was caused it to keep the computer active and not sync. Don't know what change fixed it. But now I hit f9 if I'm going to be using my mobile right away otherwise it catches up.the lack of mobile push sync gets me more often.

Yeah, I also vote for this feature!

Bad thing happens when one forgets to press F9 =(

I'm not sure why it doesn't get synced automatically on Android either...

Any comments from developers or persons who are lucky to have automatic sync completely working?

Hi Yuri.
I use MLO on Windows and Android and the built-in sync works for me about 99% of the time. I recently upgraded my phone and the split of my time between Windows vs Android has moved from about 70/30 to aboout 40/60.

On the Windows side, an automatic sync occurs when I open or close MLO or leave it idle for about 10 minutes. Problem happen when:

1. I update a task in MLO/Windows and close my laptop, which initiates sleep mode,  before a sync happens. The update will be synched after I reopen the laptop bit that might be too late.

2. If I have something running in the background, the sync every ten minutes stops. I use Rebit to do backups and it stops the sync but this is usually while I sleep.  More serious are websites that automatically refresh, like FlightAware or Google News.

3. Sometimes I sit at the computer,  phone in hand, using both at once. Whenever I want to see a change I made on the "other" platform I manually sync both sides.

My biggest problem with sync on Windows is the thing about self-refreshing web sites. I've trained myself to shut those websites when I'm done with them and not leave them running in the background.

On Android, a sync happens when I open or close MLO or it goes to the background.  This works well for me as MLO is into and out of the background frequently. There have been very rare occasions where I update something on the phone then go to bed with MLO still in the foreground , then go to Windows in the morning to find that last update missing.

I have several problems with sync on Android:

1. There is no industrial strength conflict resolution tool for sync conflicts discovered on the phone side

2. Sometimes I'm connected by Wifi to a LAN that does not have Internet access. MLO tries constantly, without success, to connect with its cloud server. It takes a long time to time out and there's no way to cancel or abort.

3. I wish there was a setting for "background sync only on wifi." MLO is now using more of my network data service allowance than all of my other apps put together.

In summary, while there are still a number of issues,  the built-in sync does a good job on the whole of keeping my devices synchronized and I have stopped relying on any outside tools to manage , schedule or trigger syncs.

Dear Dwight,

Thanks for so good explanations.

For Android I have find out a periodic sync setting. It seems this is meant by you as the background sync. That's nice indeed!

For PC it seems that problem is cause by issue #2: smth runs in the background. This seems to be a problem. For the web sites I've got the point, but can you give a hint how to identify "bad" apps?

Kind regards,
Yury
