Say someone was going to buy a tablet that would only be used to run MLO. No other evaluation criteria other than the best MLO app experiance. What would you recommend, Android or iOS? --

I agree but will take it a step further.
As of today, the Android version of MLO is the best mobile version.
There’s work being done on an IOS version, and it seems likely that when it’s available (don’t know when that might be) it will surpass the Android.
My understanding is that both the Android version and the IOS version are designed for phones. You may be successful running them on tablets but you will feel like you are using a gigantic phone and not a tablet.
If your only evaluation criteria is actually finding a tablet with the best possible MLO app experience I would go for the Windows 8 RT tablets, which run the traditional Windows version, which still significantly surpasses the functionality of any of the mobile versions.

The iPad version however is specifically designed for a tablet screen and looks much better for the most part. The exception is the task and note editors which make very poor use of the screen real estate. There's also a couple of bugs which means all tasks that should show don't in some date based views. However the iOS version is currently being rewritten and the new iPhone version looks to be really good, likely surpassing the Android version in some areas. These features will make it to the iPad version in due course. They will then feed back into the Android version as well of course! That's the nature of progress!
So either platform will suit your requirements well. My personal favourite at present is the iPad Mini. I just need to keep an eye on those missing tasks at present, but that will soon be fixed.
