Hi. Is it just me, or is the congifuration of email alerts broken? I would like to be able to get MLO to send me an email as a reminder from time to time. However, I have tried settings for Yahoo and Gmail and neither appear to work (both require Port 465 and SSL). I just get a time out / authentication failure. Other todo programmes I have used in the past seem to have no problem with this at all (Todoist, IQTell etc). Is no one using this feature?

Loving MLO otherwise!

Many thanks for your help.
Nick

Sorry, haven't tried it. But I do remember something about gmail needing a hack to work...have you searched the archives? Anyone remember?

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for responding. Yes I searched the archives and found a couple of old threads that talk about issues but peter out without an answer. I find it odd that such a common feature is broken and there is not more comment on it. Maybe the MLO user base just don't find a need for it. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has managed to get it to work though. Sometimes a prompt via email can be the ideal method.

Hi. Me again. I've still not been able to get this to work for gmail or yahoo. I recall someone mentioning it might get fixed in the new Windows version of MLO. Here's hoping!

In the meantime I'd still be interested to hear from anyone who has managed to get it to work in its current form.

Thanks.

Hi Nick
It's the middle of 2017 and I just tried to setup email alerts.
Because I use port 465 in Thunderbird I expected this to be necessary in MLO.

It turned out that port 25 with the checkbox for 'My server requires authentication' cleared was the solution !
Presumably everyone else has discovered this by now.

Hi Peter

Thanks for the post. I've tried again using 465, 587 and 25, all with and without authentication, using my gmail account, but it generates an error message every time.

Maybe it's just me, but hoping this gets fixed in the next version.

Cheers, Nick

Hi Nick
It's weird that it worked with 25 on a laptop and Win 10 (test message ok) but crashes on the work PC with Win 7.
