Context Sort Order

I would like for a few of my contexts to sort to the top of a context-sorted list. I had assumed that the program used ASCII sort order but I see that "@" precedes most everything. I did discover that "#" and "/" will precede "@" but was curious what the general sequence is.

None of the following precedes "@": + - < >

Thanks,
-bs

Hi, BS. You are right. If I recall correctly,  the exclamation point "!" also sorts above the @ sign.

Warning: sort sequences are different on Windows, Android and IOS

Hi BS,

I went through most of it and this is the sortorder of Context in MLO Windows, is as follow from high to low.

(Minus (-) and one blank works.
(Minus (-) and two blanks works also
(one blank)  Does NOT work, will sort by next sign
(two blanks) Does NOT work, will sort by next sign

Benny, thank you for doing all of this research and documenting it so clearly.

Hi all

the charachter which will be first, is the ASCI non breaking space.
To type it, on windows, press ALT key and keep it pressed. Then type 255.
That's it.

Would you please share how you are using this?

Also, I have properties that need ordering roombyroom along with appropriate tasks or items    Do you have a suggestion as to how to use this app accordingly?

It's complicated, as you can set up that hierarchy within the outline directly, and that is what I would do. You can also set up a hierarchy in contexts, thought that is more artful as the contexts are shown in menus in alphabetical order, which would not work for your list without amending it. The contexts are more often used generally, e.g. Work, Home (not specific rooms), In transit, Shopping, Leisure etc.

It is a complication that the sort order of the prefixes is different between the Android and Windows versions, as Dwight mentioned above. In addition, within the Windows app, the prefixes are sorted differently depending on whether one is editing the contexts from the Tools menu or editing the contexts of a task. I have selected a subset of prefixes which comes closest, I think, to a consistent ordering between the Windows and Android versions.
