lost the ability to copy from clipboard

HELP

i cant copy and paste text from other windows programs into MLO anymore.  Ive tested the clipboard and it does work for other programs like word, excel and one note.

makes MLO useless at this point

any help!

Hi, Brent.

I just tried it and it worked fine for me.

Maybe this is one of those problems that goes away after the next time you reboot. Have you rebooted yet?

Here’s what I did:

1. Open the Notepad program

2. type “Hello”

3. Highlight the word Hello

4. Press ctrl/ins to copy

5. Press alt/tab until MLO comes to the foreground

6. Highlight the inbox

7. press alt/ins to create a blank task in the inbox and highlight the caption

8. press shift-ins to paste. The caption changes to “hello”

9. click in the “note” space at the top of the right hand pane

10. press shift-ins to paste. The note changes to “hello”

 

When you try this, does it work? Is there any kind of error message or does it just seem to ignore your paste commands?

If this works, could you write a script showing in this kind of detail, what you are doing when it doesn’t work?

Thanks- but nope.  Somethings going on with the clipboard and i just cant figure it.   ill have to wait for the weekend....  works piling up and my workflows broken...  :)   thanks!

Try disabling your antivirus program. I honestly can’t remember the AV brand I was using last year, but I discovered it would intercept any paste operation to MLO. So I switched. The list archives may be helpful in finding more information.

 

I know Kaspersky is working fine at work, and will check both the misbehaving product and my current AV over the weekend too.

Ha. I came here to report similar problems.   Not as bad as this but there is definitely something funny going on here.    I do a lot of pasting from another app into the tasks notes and from time to time this stops working using Ctrl+V (right click and select Paste usually works)

 

But then the problem gets worse:  eg another thing I do is use cut and paste in the task title section of the Properties and when I try and paste, I get the Child/Sibling dialog box as if I am trying to paste a task with the focus in the view.

 

Restarting MLO makes the problem go away.   But its happening once or twice a day for me and is quite annoying.

 

I am using something called ClipCache but I don't think that is the cause of the problem (but can't be sure) because I am not seeing the problem anywhere else.

 

One way or another, this is a new problem (last couple of weeks perhaps).  And as far as I am aware,  there has not been a recent upgrade to Clipcache so my suspicion is that it is an MLO problem.

Yes - just done a couple of tests.  The two problems appear to occur at the same - ie when Ctrl+V stops working in the Notes field,   Ctrl+V in the Task Title field brings up the Child/Sibling dialog.

 

Exiting from  ClipCache and trying again does not make the problem go away.

 

Restarting MLO, thankfully, does.

I've encountered this as well (MLO 4.3.3 on Windows 7) and Ctrl-V does not paste text into a New Task's title. Very frustrating. 

I had just opened MLO to add this task, so rather expected it to work. I had switched Views to get to my Inbox -- that is all. Nevertheless I quit and re-opened MLO which then allowed me to paste.

I do not use any clipping programs. Pretty sure this is something broken in MLO.

This sounds like a long standing problem that I have reported several
times where the cut and paste keys (Ctrl V, Ctrl C and Ctrl X) stop
working when you open additional MLO windows using the F3 key.

Which is why restarting MLO appears to resolve the problem because it
restarts with just the main window open so everything is fine until you
hit F3 again.

Took me ages to track down but I am afraid it remains sadly

Do let me know whether yours is the same problem.

The right click menu options do still work but are much less
satisfactory.
