We currently use Datamax/Oneill printers using their own language Datamax Programming Language.
Similar to ZPL but different.

are there any inline conversion setups? So we wouldn't need to go and change a couple thousand
Programs that currently have imbedded DPL commands for Card/Label formatting.

Maybe something like a Datamax to PCL or PDF

Hi George,

What is your target output?  Are you trying to replace your Datamax printers with a lazer or ink jet or are you converting to a different label printer like a Zebra?

Joe,

sorry about the delay....

yes, we are looking to switch to a much less expensive card printer - we no longer require the heavy duty datamax printers.
we are looking for a printer that can print 4x3 cards or 4x6 labels

but we do not use printer drivers, everything is DPL (datamax printer language), which wold be excellent if the
cheaper printed used DPL - but realistically some kind of DPL -> xxxx would be great. We only use the basics of the DPL
With nothing really complex - so if we had to roll our own - we could - but would prefer no to

any thoughts?

Hello.

we use https://labelary.com web service to convert ZPL to pdf. I did'nt tried dpl, but as far as i know, we never had a problem with our translations from zpl/dpl to pdf... we use datamax too.

hope this help...

Big fan of labelary! Some notes I kept on ZPL.

If things are simple enough, you can write your own converter. To verify it, you can write a script to feed labels into the playground and grab the images it generates and then manually compare the label images with the DPL version.

Hi George,

I like your "inline" concept - I'm thinking to architect a "transformer" or API that intercepts the output path....something like Datamax Virtual Device Feature APL-D, then work with the image - convert to new printer format or image. (possibly use an AI agent).
