On windows, when I try to "cabal install music-suite", I get lots of stuff and then:

music-suite-1.7.0.1 depends on music-score-1.7 which failed to install.
unix-2.7.0.1 failed during the configure step. The exception was:
ExitFailure 1

Any suggestions?

That i odd.

The only dependency on unix I know about is in the process package (but only as an alternative, and Win32 should work instead). Maybe you have an outdated version of a Music Suite package somewhere?

Try to manually uninstall all of the following packages and then try again.

music-dynamics-literal
music-pitch-literal
abcnotation
musicxml2
lilypond
music-score
music-pitch
music-dynamics
music-articulation
music-parts
music-preludes
music-graphics
music-sibelius
music-suite
music-docs

Hans

I agree that the process package *should* be the only dependency on unix, but we can see right on http://hackage.haskell.org/package/music-preludes that, unfortunately, music-preludes 1.7 depends on unix.

I started trying to address this issue, but then I ran into the 'tabulated' ambiguity. That seems to be fixed in 35885b8d45, but not yet released to hackage. I could perhaps work my way through all this, but my goal was to use the music suite to introduce somebody to haskell, and installing a dozen packages from github source is not an introductory exercise.

I look forward to future releases.

A silly of me, there is a Posix function in music-preludes which brought in the unix package.

I will release a version to amend this in a few days.
