> Dear Commissioner Georgia McDaniel,
> I seriously can't believe that this horrendous mistake of a concept is trying to make a comeback. In its proposed form it is outrageous, once again , on so many levels.
> Please let me elaborate below :
> 1) the project was told to not exceed its prior footprint, and has arrogantly instead EXPANDED IT to 5000 sq ft !
> 2) it's still too big , and has inadequate parking, so has instead created stacked valet parking to accommodate the huge amount of vehicles they will need to park. In an emergency evacuation this greatly slows evacuation and would cause chaos and probable loss of life . This callous disregard to the safety and lives of the employees and guests who would need to evacuate takes your breath away
> 3) there are 21 narrow one lane roads that empty onto HWY 116 at exactly the same part of HWY 116 . That actually would mean, in an evacuation , that hundreds of houses of people with many hundreds of people would be trying to access HWY 116 to escape in an evacuation directly across from this grossly oversized building project . The loss of life would be extreme as the logjam there would prevent timely access to the SOLE evacuation road out of the river in either direction.
> 4) our local sewer plant is already extremely strained from existing housing and simply can't accommodate a project of this size, which would endanger the water quality on our threatened and beloved Russian River.
> 5) a project of this extensive size and creating so many local threats on so many levels , being proposed on a threatened river, in a high fire risk area absolutely demands an EIR, as it obviously adversely impacts the area severely in several serious ways. However, we have heard of no EIR at all. This seems to be a serious oversight.
6) the fire risk for our area is extreme. The loss of life with this major artery blocked and jammed with such a volume of vehicles exiting in a sudden evacuation could be CATASTROPHIC. It seems to me this is a serious liability to such a dense project located at this location on HWY116.
(I am also sending a copy of this letter to our local MAC. Representative , Cynthia Stryker ) I hope she will alert our Supervisor Hopkins to my concerns .)
Sincerely, with great concern ,
