Hi everyone,

I found a lot of issues for the buildnumber Maven plugin on GitHub.
Last commit which went into a release was in 2014, last commits were in 2018, last entry about it on this mailing list in 2015.

Is there anyone still working on it?

Doesn't seem so.

I'll push a change to make ci work better. But I'm not working on that mojo.

Thanks for looking into it!

Who would merge PRs and cut a release if I created PRs?
I doubt I would get commit access after only for PRs to ASF projects.

Hi
I will look into it.
It’s not an ASF project so you can easily have access to it ;)
Ping me when your PRs are ready.

I thought maybe review the existing PRs first, apply some checkstyle
rules, add some tests.

The latest issue is leaking a password in clear text into the system
out channel. I think this plugin really needs some attention.

None that I know of. Haven't looked into the code changes between
those versions yet.

Also, there seem to be a lot of commits since 2016 without referenced
issues. I thought I could step through them at some point, but
creating a changelog for a new version might be a bit more difficult
than expected.

that's all right I usually try to not be a nit picking person :)
as we use github we can maybe use this for release notes https://github.com/marketplace/actions/release-drafter
?
