Hi all,

yes, it is the other way around. Not preserving, but destroying the data :)

I've collected dozens of MFM drives over the years, and don't like to
give them away,

thinking there would be any personal data on them.

So, is there a command/tool, to completely wipe it, before I get them to
somebody who still

would like to use the original drives on their computers?

Thanks!

You can use mfm_write.

This way tou can read back to verify disk wiped. Use ext2emu to create the
emulator file.

ext2emu --ext /dev/zero --emu empty.emu --format Intel_iSBC_214_512B --heads # --cyl #

then for each drive
mfm_write --drive # --file empty.emu

If you want to verify write worked then use mfm_read to read back.

From memory. Adjust as needed.

Will need to put the write jumper on.
