Hi,
We’re considering going to these places. Has anyone gone and have feedback pro and con?
Any suggestions for tour groups? Does anyone know anything about nature trek tours in general which is a British group?
Thanks. Chris

Consider Rockjumper

I know a tour leader who lived and birded seriously in India. He has also birded in Morocco. He made a trip there some years ago to see a nuthatch that is apparently a very good bird.

Just my two cents.

Good birding!

Hi,

I would check out Tropical Birding Tours -- they run a pretty comprehensive trip to Morocco. If you go onto YouTube, and search for "Tropical Birding Tours" they post videos of all their tours. We have not been there, but have used TB several times for other destinations. Ken Behrens is our favorite guide and he does lead Morocco sometimes.

If you are not a birder who absolutely HAS to see every possible bird, you should try Naturalist Journeys (a well established company based in Portal, AZ).  They run birding tours that are based in Marrakesh (where you fly from the USA or Europe) and visit areas in SW Morocco, including the desert and the Atlantic coast.  We went with them earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed it.  The leader was an excellent Spanish birder, Victor Porras, who regularly leads trip for NJ.  These Naturalist Journeys tours do not visit other big Moroccan cities such as Fez, Tangier, Rabat or Casablanca, so if you want to sample all of Morocco you probably should opt for more general tours.

I used to lead Naturetrek tours to Morocco (and a few other places), have not done so for 18 years though. Naturetrek is a sound company and have run that southern Morocco trip for over 30 years, so would be a good choice.

Cheers

Andy
