Dear Experts,

I am pleased to draw your attention and please provide your valuable input / advice / comment / clarification regarding my interpretation as below.

The following is the requirement as referring to the attached 6600028289 (OOK) schedule Q_quality requirements attachment 1 clause 2.2.1.

Quote starts

“ When performing, reviewing or ensuring Nondestructive Testing in VT, MT, PT, RT or UT, he shall be certified in the specific method(s). When performing, reviewing or ensuring Radiographic Testing Film Interpretation (), Inspector shall be certified in ASNT Level II."

Quote Ends

My interpretation is RT report shall be reviewed or ensured by the inspector with ASNT Level II certified in RTFI.

And after reviewing or ensuring the reports as per the requirements that report shall endorsed (singed) by that inspector who is qualified in RTFI .

But the vendor is dis agreeing with the my statement.

Please advise me.

Thanks and best regards,

Mohammed Ismail,

Mechanical Inspector,

vendor inspection department,

Velosi.

Dear Sir (s),

Thanks for involvement and providing valuable input/time in this regards.

This was highlighted to client in the inspection report, even though to ensure the finding i was seeking for advise.

In vendor point of view the RT report shall be reviewed and ensured by the inspector with ASNT level II certified in RT

Thanks and Best regards,
Mohammed Ismail,

Dear Sir,

This are RT report - final evaluation report / RT review form in which result of the RT were mentioned. Not the films.

For information these reports which is subjected for review were for the castings (eg; valve body /pump casing / cover).

with regards,
Mohammed Ismail

Dear sir,

Please share with the vendor the guidelines of ASNT about level 2 in RT and RTFI.

RT qualification from ASNT Level 2 is an operator level qualification. In INDIA, an ASNT level 2 person cannot operate a radiography camera as we have to follow the regulations of AERB .Outside INDIA an ASNT level 2 person can operate a radiography camera.

In ASNT level 2 in RT there is nothing regarding the evaluation of radiography film.

An ASNT RTFI level 2 person is qualified to evaluate Radiography film, interpret it and is qualified to sign the report.

It is a general perception that an ASNT Level 2 in RT is qualified for film interpretation and that is wrong.

Best regards,

Dear Friends,

As per my understanding ASNT level - II have one qualification for  Radio Graphic Inspection which is ASNT LEVEL -II - RT.
which covers film review and reporting.

For Radio graphic film interpretation & Report authorization requires  ASNT LEVEL -II - RT.

The other qualification like MPI or LPE a level 1 operator can do that performing the MPI or LPE. Report evaluation and authorization by ASNT LEVEL -II MPI or LPE

But in RT film review Level-I cannot do.( Mostly in Middle east we are using Level- II for all including preforming MPI / LPE )
