Dear Experts,

Is Decladding is required for internal welds on Cladded vessels??

Hi Abhisekh,

 

Welding of internals in a clad vessel is very much possible without major removal of clad. If the vessels is subjected to PWHT and clad restoration is done after PWHT fabricators would like avoid any further welding & PWHT  of the substrate material.

 

What’s is the clad metallurgy including Grade of BM involved?

Ι would not remove the cladding. I would position the internals, mark the areas where internals are touching the cladding, then I would groove the cladding around those marks, and I would weld the internals on the base metal and the cladding with Inco 625
