measuring of the gap between edges of crack

Dear All.

Does any body have any experience about measuring of the gap between edges of crack especially for HIC or SWC? and which method would be useful?

Hi,

Please refer to NACE TM0284, for the measurement of cracks with respect to crack sensitivity ratio (CSR), crack length ratio (CLR), and crack thickness ratio (CTR).,

Actually, I need it for F.F.S (crack area based on chapter 7 of API579) and I am looking for a reliable NDT method to measure HIC/ or even SWC from one accessible side.

Actually, we want to scan base metal but in some situations,  crack grow to weld.

Yes, low hydrogen electrode behave like.  PAUT scan in transverse direction to weld on basematerial
