Hi,

Dose someone knew if they are using Machinekit ant QtQuickVcp?
? Because the hardware seems to be a very nice alternative to the CRAMPS. Also the Software looks great.

many thanks

No, they are not. If the software looks great, use it. You will spare yourself the headache of developing port.

Cern.

Cern, i recently became interested in MachineKit, after seeing the Centroid Acorn system, BBG with remote windows based GUI. My research into MachineKit indicated that it can be setup the same as the Acorn. I guess it is possible that all the code in the BBG is their own, but likely heavily influenced by MachineKit. How is it that you know for sure that it is not?

Steve,
I think for sure based on making of my own conclusions, net know for sure based on the fact, that somebody high in Centroid who has direct knowledge told me so.

I looked at an output of decompilation of Acorn software and what I have seen is bunch of .NET CIL code and WIN32 API. Also, what is flashed on the BBG looked pretty small. Machinekit-HAL uses Linux userspace real-time threads/tasks. I did not think it would fit. The Windows side didn't look like anything Machinekit-like I have seen.

Then, by their website, the Centroid started in 1979, before the Enhanced Machine Controller project. So I again assumed, that the Centroid Acorn is direct evolvement of their own work.

Of course, I can be wrong.

Cern, thanks for the reply, and for you digging around in that system. Too bad they stopped short at 4 axis !
