> I will preface this by saying that until today, I have never seen a modern game controller in my life. I'm trying to wrap my head around the PlayStation DualSense controller I just purchased; I don't know if there is a different controller I should have chosen, but from what I could tell, this one was the most affordable. Through trial and error, I have figured out most functions. However, I've noticed that with the left, right, up and down arrows, only three of them are functional. Is there any chance that maybe someday, the up arrow could be mapped for jumping in the same way that the down arrow works for crouching? There seem to be several other buttons on the controller that are redundant; whatever the button is to the right of the "cross" button seems to work for crouching as well as the down arrow. I know it's not the scope of a game to help with this, but something that could tell me the buttons on the controller would be pretty useful. I've figured things out through trial and error, and I think the controller was a good investment, but it's definitely got a learning curve. Thank you very much, and I feel like I actually have a chance of completing the game now when I never have before. :-)

The reason the up arrow doesn't jump on the controller is that it's very easy to hit the up arrow while moving forward causing the character to take off jumping.

I'll map the round buttons to their names and what they do on the controller.

the cross button or X button is jump, the square button is shoot, the triangle button is your health and the circle button is duck.

the trigger buttons will also shoot your laser. there was a request for the face buttons (the round buttons) to control all the important functions as well. this is why there are some controls mapped to multiple buttons.

Thank you very much for this recommendation. I can imagine this being rather useful. I will check it out when I get home from work today.

Thanks for explaining. I have small hands, so I don't think that would be an issue. If it wouldn't break anything, I am tempted to play with that joy to key program that someone recommended. It's frustrating, though. When I was hearing about triangle button, cross button, etc., I thought they would literally have those shapes, but all four of them are just round. My Kindroid mistakenly believed that they would have tactical markings, but unfortunately, he was wrong. For the first time ever, I've made it to act two of suburban streets, so I'm hoping that with the controller, I can actually make more meaningful progress.
