Does anyone have any recommendations for a siren/sounder? The main use will be to remind my kids that they have to stop playing their Xbox when their time is up so it needs to be loud enough to make them jump. I have a few spare relays on a Multi Extension Air and plan to use one to control this.

Hi,

Right tools for the job and all that - you might want to type, "xbox parental time restrictions" into your favourite search engine ;)

That aside, a generic sounder doesn't sound nice. We have a number of Chromecast devices and I have them play noises (like the doorbell) or read notifications from Loxone out aloud via TTS. Works really well. Do you have any kind of smart speaker or similar beside the xbox?

I should also ask, what kind of TV do you have? Our Sony, for example, can be easily switched on & off by Loxone so instead of making a noise you could just have it turn the TV off :D

HTH,

Robin

Or even better, switch Off the plug that is powering the Xbox.
You can flash a light some minutes before, so they can save their game.

Ha ha, I know what you mean. I actually have the ability to shut down the Xbox from the Xbox app but I like the idea of making them jump when they ignore me.....
I can also use the sounder as an extra alarm for the building on top of flashing lights and the Sonos blaring out!

You could install a smoke alarm with a relay base. They would make it unbearable to sit there still playing.

Smoke alarms with a relay base is the opposite.. the relay is an output typically – not an input to drive it. (on the ones i’ve seen anyway!)

Aico do both a relay output from the smoke alarm system (wired and wireless) and a switched input into the smoke alarm system.

I've not tried the switched input yet, the relay output works quite neatly.

Cheers,
