What happens against terminators?  Wraith or bikes?

Thanks

I think he is planning on using the Cent's against those.

Terminators die in swarms when faced with the awesome destructive power of these fully armed and operational centurions with grav cannons and grav amps. For that matter so do wraith (including wraithlords, killed Josh's wraithlord in one turn with them) and bikes.

Plus the vindicator can clean up what they don't get.

Remember, I'm not going. I'm just trying to give you guys some lists to think about fighting against.

What's your plan for the HQ? Just curious as I would consider taking either a cheaper one or a librarian. It doesn't seem like the captain would be buffing much in this list. I might even consider taking a cheaper one and dropping the speeder and taking an assault bike squad for a fast hitting scoring unit. Just my thoughts. It's a good starting list. What were your thoughts behind building it?

I went with the chapter master because he gets an extra wound (4) and an extra attack (4) over a captain, AND he gets orbital bombardment (unlimited", S10 AP1, Ordinance 1, Barrage, Large Blast, Orbital — scatters full 2d6", can still shoot and charge the turn he uses it).

I thought about the librarian because it scales well, but I haven't been totally happy with the librarian since they took away his "Null Zone" psychic power (John just loved that power). Add in the fact that he doesn't get an invuln save and only has two wounds, and he'd a little scary for a tournament. The chapter master's 4++ seems safer to me.

Changing him out for a captain on bike might be good, but the bike squad would need to be 5 men to count as a troop choice. That would be 105 points without special weapons. I'd need to drop the vindicator for it. A fair trade. Frankly, I'm worried about not having enough scoring units.

Changing out the anti-tank suicide landspeeder unit for a small bike squad is a good idea. It didn't occur to me though, because bikes used to be more expensive, and I'd forgotten about them...

My methods for making the list was pretty straight forward. I wanted as much redundancy in the list as possible.
  • Two anti-TEQ units (cents and vindicators).
  • Two anti-air units (Telion on Quadgun, Hunter).
  • Lots of anti-armor options (meltaguns in drop pod, suicide anti-armor land speeder, vindicator, split-firing centurion with missile launcher and lascannon).
  • The Scouts and Cents are good against monstrous creatures.
  • Two anti-horde units (chapter master and vindicator, though the two hurricane bolters with the cents and the flamers on the land raider would certainly kill many).
  • Two distraction units (land raider and vindicator).
The scouts will hold your own objective forever (2+ cover save behind the Aegis), and the drop pod could conceivably take an objective (or two if combat squad-ed). 1500 point is tough for a Codex: Space Marine army, you always feel like you're leaving something out. In this case, anti-fast units and it may be light in terms of scoring units.

The big problem I had with this list was that I wrote it in case you actually wanted to play it in a test game. I don't actually own any bikes, so I couldn't put any in the list!

If we were playing a test game and you needed to proxy bikes it wouldn't be a big deal. Just curious, but I thought the chapter master orbital was one use, also isn't it Ordnance, I'm guessing there are special rules that let him shoot and assault even when using that? The librarian can take termy armor correct? On the vindicator vs bikes front that's a tough call, thoughts John?

It's a good thought provoking list, there's another option out there with deep strike that changes that as well. The librarian can take terminator armor but that's 25-35 pts.  I'll send you the master rules later I agree with mike on that thought he's Nasty at lower points.

Thanks

Here's what I just did while drinking at an Irish bar and tinkering in the Force Requisition thing in the iPad's codex, so I'm going by memory while I'm posting here. And I've been drinking, so my marginal short term memory is compromised, so no values.

Its what the 1850 list would look like scaled down to this level.

HQ
Captain on bike with lightning claw and artificer armor
Librarian in terminator armor, psyker level two, storm shield — goes with the cents in the land raider with a hooker of battle (no points for the hooker, just a running gag).

Troops
Bikers with 5 men, two meltaguns
Tactical squad. 10 men, meltagun, multi-melta, veteran sergeant, combi-melta, melta bombs, drop pod
Tactical squad. 10 men, gravgun, lascannon, veteran sergeant, combi-grav, melta bombs, rhino

Heavy suppport
Devastator centurions. 3 men, hurricane bolters x2, grav cannon with grav amps x2, omniscope, twin-linked lascannons, missile launcher in a land raider reedeemer with multi-melta (librarian goes here)
Hunter with storm bolter.
