Is there any way to go to the start of a take?

I was wondering if there is any way to go to the start of a take, instead of the region, in Logic. Sometimes there are instances where a take starts, let’s say, at bar 6 and ends at bar 7, while the region’s length goes from bar 1 to bar 16, since the region length is always based on the comp or the longest take in that region.

Sometimes I don’t know exactly where a take starts or where its boundaries are, because finding the start manually can take a lot of time, especially if the region is, say, 100 bars long. One thing I tried was using transient navigation commands, but they don’t seem reliable. Occasionally they jump to the start of the take, but most of the time they don’t.

Are there any workarounds? Thank you!

Control home, unless I am not understanding the question here.

Nope, that’s not what I meant. So let’s say you’re recording vocals. You do three takes from bar 9 to bar 32, which makes the region boundaries from bar 9 to bar 32. Then, because you like the result from bar 9 to bar 16, you set your punch-in and punch-out locators to record only from bar 17 to bar 32. After that, you might record just from bar 19 to bar 20, for example.

Now you have takes with different lengths and starting positions, but the region is still from bar 9 to bar 32, as it doesn’t change by how long the individual takes are. So control+home/end would still take you to bar 9 or bar 32. When you have many takes, and the section is not just 32 bars but maybe 200 bars, it becomes really annoying to find where a take actually starts just to listen to it. I have to manually locate the start using comma and period, or Shift + comma/period. Navigating by transient with Control + comma/period doesn’t work in this case.

Here’s a short audio demonstration:

It’s been a while since I had to work with a take folder like that. Left/right arrows should still navigate you with in the overlapping takes of the regions. As you select each take then control home/end should take you to the start of that one, or set Logic Magician to move to the start of the region when you press left/right arrows.
Alternatively , if you do what you are doing and find where each section starts you can split the region there and then you should be able to easily get to those takes with left/right arrows.
To avoid this in the future if you are the one doing the recording.
Let’s use your example of recording from bar 9 to bar 32. When  you decide to redo the vocals and punch in at bar 17 to bar 21. Split the region at bar 17 so now you have a new region boundary from bar 17 on. When you decide to track else where split there as well.
Personally I don’t set punch in and out locators much anymore. I just set a cycle range for the area where I would of set the Punch In/out markers so that I can do a couple takes in that spot without having to stop and start the recording again. Of course sometimes you have to do the punch In/Out if there isn’t enough breathing room so to speak for the singer or performer to  finish the line at the end of the cycle range and be ready to start the line at the start of the cycle range immediately.
Though in a lot of those cases I’ll just put it on another track and then set the cycle range to start at say bar 15 or bar 16 instead of bar 17 so the performer has a chance to be ready to come in on the downbeat at bar 17. Of course naming your tracks becomes important in this regards. I can easily put the vocals all back on one track once I comp if I want to as well.
