Easylist com erro não identificado

Caros,
Tento aprender o básico do pacote easylist, por isso, em um slide de
apresentação coloquei o seguinte:

\begin{frame}
\frametitle{Países}

\begin{easylist}[checklist]
& América do Sul
&& Brasil
&&& São Paulo
&&& Rio de Janeiro
\end{easylist}

\end{frame}

Parece-me correto, tanto mais porque no preâmbulo, não me esqueci de:
\usepackage[ampersand]{easylist}

No entanto, como erro, obtive algo assim:
! Misplaced alignment tab character &.
\beamer@doifinframe ...gin {easylist}[checklist] &
América do Sul && Brasil...
l.11 \end{frame}

Alguém tem alguma ideia do que sucede?

Muito bom. Coloco um "fragile" para tornar a coisa mais robusta!
Se bem entendi, o pacote easylist possui diversos estilos de listas,
entre os quais se encontra o checklist. Ficaria assim:
\begin{easylist}[fragile][checklist]
Em outras palavras, posso ter mais de um argumento sem qualquer problema?

Perdoe-me, fui incrivelmente desatento. O "fragile" é argumento do
frame, não do easylist.
