Hello owners, just wondering if those who might have a faucet in the anchor locker could relate back to me on where the motor for that might be? I believe mine is in the forward berth port side, but we cannot find a switch to it, etc. I don’t know if this was original equipment in later years, but I’m looking to be educated. Thanks,
David

The only switch I have found on our J46 is the circuit breaker.

Most wash down pumps have a pressure switch built into them. When you turn on the circuit breaker you will hear it run for a moment to pressurize the line.

That is true for my saltwater pump and freshwater pump. I do not seem to get any water from the Forward locker faucet(?). Do you have an anchor locker wash down faucet?

Look in forward head cabinet, forward wall, next to sump switch.  At least that’s where ours is.

Thank you, Sue! I’m excited to get to Raven to check. Hopefully it’s something as simple as that.

Sorry this may not be part of this thread but enclosed what are these two studs doing at the stem of a J 42?

Many J/Boats have dual bow/anchor rollers (port and starboard). The port one is often removable (as in your photo, where there’s only the starboard roller).

Here’s a photo of the missing part (I don’t usually have both rollers installed either):

You’ll note the two slotted holes at the bottom of the photo…they fit the “permanent” studs on the bow fixture that you were asking about.

Is your seacock for the salt water wash down pump open?

The J-40 we own has a seasick that is located in a small cutty locker underneath the bedding just aft of the forward head waste tank. You have to have it on for the pump to work.

I believe we have opened it in trying to get the faucet on, but will check again. Do you have a wash down in your bow anchor locker?

Yes, my anchor locker washdown has it’s pump, seacock and strainer under the v berth. Check the voltage at the pump.

I saw Velocity in California in 2005.  It uses the studs to attach a small sprit for the asymmetrical.  Check out the pictures here. http://threefools.org/velocity/BoatDetails/Bowsprit/bowsprit.htm

On Cayenne, J42 #65, the washdown pump is located below the V-Berth, port side.  The associated through-hull is nearby and feeds both the FWD head and the washdown. There is what looks like an original circuit breaker/switch on the 12V panel for it.  In the port aft corner of the anchor locker, the washdown hose connects to a valve/spigot, which is threaded for a standard garden hose/washdown hose.
Hope this is of help.
Cheers,

On this topic, could someone detail how their hose is routed from under the V-berth to the anchor locker?

I installed my own wash-down pump after-market. Indeed, I put the pump in the obvious place, aft port corner of the V-berth, next to the through-hulls.  But there didn’t seem to be any clear path forward under the berth.  It’s sealed off under a floor in the anchor locker.  So the hose rises up to a fairly ugly bulkhead connector that is exposed to view above the mattress.
