Dear colleagues,
I am very interested in the skin temperature of the ISCCP HGG product. I found that there are some important modifications applied in the H product in comparison with the previous D version. For example, there are changes in the the surface type used, the cloud processing, and atmospheric profiles etc.

I am wondering if you have evaluated the Ts of H version, in comparisons to the previous D version (or to some observations). This is important for the users to understand the improvements brought to the Ts by using the new version, as well as the general quality. If you have some information (documents), or one or two figures for illustration, I would deeply appreciate !!

Best regards,

Hi
Thanks for your interest. We have not looked at every variable too closely because there are hundreds of variables in various files. There is information on the differences between D and H in the ISCCP algorithm description available here:

I hope this helps-

Dear colleagues,
The ISCCP surface temperature is at every 3 hour. I am just wondering if temperature at an given hour (15UTC for example) represents the averaged temperature over the past 3 hours ? or the temperature at the exact hour ? Thanks in advance !

Best regards

Hi
ISCCP Data are instantaneous and not averages.
