Upcoming release

Hello all,

we've been working on the upcoming release 1.0 since some time.
The intention has been:
- Include only the critical fixes
- Announce the code freeze in the next weeks
- Keep the freeze window rather short

Please let me know if there are major issues with this.
Larger stuff (like sudo patches, etc.) I'd propose to apply after the release.

Hi,

during testing I still noticed some of the "Please set maintainer"
warnings, which should be fixed prior to the release.

Apart from that, it would be good if the git tag of the release could
be signed. Along that the signing key should be documented in the docs.
