Dear friends,

Earlier at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/indiantreepix/HUoQO2C7JHQ/_X1xUFdcT18J, one of my uploads has got the ID of Kyllinga nemoralis.
The plant posted here looks a bit different in context of the inflorescence - please therefore validate the ID in this post.

In the northern Konkan and Western Ghats of Maharashtra, we have at least following species of Kyllinga reported:
  1. K. brevifolia
  2. K. bulbosa
  3. K. nemoralis
  4. K. melanosperma
  5. K. squamulata
Reference (PDF) : The Gazetteer Department (Govt. of Maharashtra) - महाराष्ट्रातील वनस्पतीशास्त्र आणि वनसंपदा

Very eager to see uploads of various species of Kyllinga.

Regards.
Dinesh

Many thanks Surajit ji. I am hoping many of us share their sightings of various species of Kyllinga.
The pictures at the links are good; but familiarity with grasses and sedges is absolutely low - not yet able to grasp the differences.

Regards.

"we are in the same boat brother..."

Good morning Dinesh Ji.

According to Flora of British India, K. cylindrica Nees is scattered widely in India, not plentiful anywhere. I am thinking if your species https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/indiantreepix/HUoQO2C7JHQ/_X1xUFdcT18J can be the same.

Regards,
surajit
