Madam,

I may be wrong in guessing that it is more like Daphne species than Citrus one.

Thank you

Surajit Ji is Right!!

This is Daphne papyracea Wall. ex G. Don. Traditionally, bark of this plant is used to make paper by the Monpa tribes of Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh.

Family: Thymelaeaceae

Regards,
Ritesh.

But, Madam, I have a question - Why FoC says that flowers of D. papyracea Wall. ex G. Don are not fragrant?

Interestingly, the paper http://nopr.niscair.res.in/bitstream/123456789/7986/1/NPR%205%282%29%20133-138.pdf on the other hand says flowers are scented and refers Polunin & Stainton!

Amazing!

Thank you

Thank you Madam for the update. Your Citrus species looks like the one we have here - Citrus maxima (Burm.) Merr. It is a tree, cultivated and sometimes grows on its own when seeds of a ripe fruit are thrown away in a suitable place. The flowers are fragrant and fruits are large. I have two uploads -

Thank you

Thanks Surjit ji and Usha di.
I had seen a similar species in Kakoijana, Assam -Citrus paradisi which is known as Grape fruit locally. The flowers of C.paradisi were resembling with C.maxima.

Madam,

If the identity of this species is one of C. maxima and C. paradisii it can be determined by the size of fruit http://efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=107164#KEY-1-8 :-
(i) fruit 10 cm or more = C. decumana = C. maxima = C. grandis
(ii) fruit 10 cm or less = C. decumana var. paradisi = C. paradisii = Citrus x aurantium

Alternatively, you may use the KEY in FoP - http://efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=107164#KEY-1-9. The problem is descriptions in FoC and FoP differ a bit.

If your species is none of the above two then I have no idea what other Citrus it can be.

Thank you
Regards
surajit
