Good evening. I have a question. I have to do a comparative work between three different documents so I would need to do a statistical analysis to calculate the mean and median: is there a program that allows me to view and order the data downloaded from Inception in a simple way? I don't have great computer skills.

Can you explain in more detail what you mean by "mean and median".

What tool do you typically use for your statistical analysis?

Could you describe what a format which you would like to be able to download from INCEpTION for your with your statistical analysis would look like?

That said: there is vis-a-vis which is an online tool into which you could import your INCEpTION project and which offers some visualizations:

https://visavis.ouproj.org.il/

I believe it does not do statistics though.

Cheers,

Dear Richard, I'll try to explain myself better.
I need to visualize data for both a quantitative and qualitative investigation: I have three documents that I need to compare considering three levels of analysis (lexicon, morphosyntax and textuality). I need a simple way to visualize the data (therefore also the best format) and calculate the position indices (mean and average)

If I understand it correctly, you have three span layers:

* lexicon
* morphosyntax
* textuality

Span layers means that you have annotated words or phrases with these three layers (i.e. not relations).

It is correct to assume that each of your layers only has a single feature?

Assuming you would be able to export some kind of comma-separated table (CSV file) from INCEpTION which
might roughly look like this

begin,end,label
0,10,verb
11,14,noun
...

Would you then be able to import this data into some tool you already know (Excel?, something else?) and visualize/calculate the information that you need?

exactly, they are three span layers. I know Excel, but I have not used it yet to calculate these indexes: I should try.
I ask you one last question please: is there any software even simpler? let's say it extracts the data in CSV file, in addition to the possibility of using Excel, is there anything even more automatic?

Maybe. What exactly do you mean by "calculate mean and average".
How exactly would you calculate that?

Cheers,

Or maybe taking another step back and looking at the bigger picture:

What is the kind of question you seek to answer with the help of this calculation / visualization ?

Dear Richard, sorry for answering you only now. I had another problem: I can't open Inception. I get this message:
"Unable to reach the site Connection denied by localhost.
Try to:
Check the connection
Check the proxy and firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED". I did that but I still can't open it"

It seems like your INCEpTION is not running or has problems starting.
Have you tried rebooting your computer and restarting INCEpTION?

Cheers,

-- Richard
