Oddly, my messages seem to be bouncing again (strange since this does appear in my groups!).  

Thanks for suggesting to try switching back to the Dominion theme, that worked.  So the problem IS with the custom theming.  I haven't uploaded uOttawa's theme to Github yet, but ours is modelled after the Queen's University theme available on GitHub (https://github.com/qulib/atom-theme-qul) .  Incidentally, their archive (https://db-archives.library.queensu.ca/index.php/canadian-forum-political-horizons-responding-to-george-woodcock) has the same inability to handle EAD Exports.  I've flagged an issue on their Github and am hoping to hear back from their developer.  In the interim, I'm not sure what's actually causing this problem.  Most of the material in their main.less file is just imports from the arDominion theme (besides the google fonts import, which I tried commenting out to see if it made a difference... it didn't).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and thank you all so much for your time and consideration.

Interesting - I'm surprised it's not a custom template causing the problem. I'll check with our developers when they are in, but I wondered if the general top-bar padding added in Line 77 might

There's surely a more elegant way to write it, but you could try replacing that with the following, so the padding is maintained on all sides except the top:

• padding: 0 1rem 1rem 1rem;

That's my only theory at the moment! Let us know if it helps!

Hi Carolyn,

I think the issue is caused by an empty first line in the theme plugin configuration file:

https://github.com/qulib/atom-theme-qul/blob/master/config/arQULPluginConfiguration.class.php#L1

I hope removing that line fixes the XML exports.
