We're having problems with data display and export in version 7.3.4.  Looking at data in stripcharts, we're seeing differences in values versus time.  Exporting data, we see this same problem.  Attached is a screen shot of three export attempts of the same test point.  In each attempt, the data that is pulled over the same time slice is different.  Also, the data is very different than that which is displayed for the same slice in the IADS data display.  A screen shot showing the IADS display of the same time slice (indicated as test point 1 with the time annotations) is also attached.

Please let me know what additional information I can provide to help determine what's occuring here.

Hi John,

This definitely should not occur. Perhaps we can track down the reason.

Can you zip up and send your config file to iadssupport at symvionics dot com?

John,

Never mind with the config file. I had an older version of your config containing those parameters.

The problem was a bug with ‘ascii’ parameters fixed in 8.1. During scollback or data export they showed incorrect values due to improper buffering. Just to be clear, this was only a problem with derived ascii parameters (parameters using equations such as MakeAscii). Also, the value in ‘real-time’ wasn’t affected.

Is it possible to upgrade to version 8.1? If not, I could probably get you a patched 7.3.4 exe.

Sorry about the problems,
Jim

Thanks for the feedback, Jim.  We've had a number of discussions here about when to upgrade.  Let me talk to the team more and see if we would prefer a patch.

Is there a means of communication for known problems associated with specific versions?

Ok, let us know what you decide. Either way is fine.

As far as bugs per version, we generally post those in the ‘release notes’ in the subsequent release. I understand that doesn’t help you when you’re running an older version. When a bug is serious enough (such as this type of bug that affects data content), we generally post a warning on this group at the moment we find the issue. I’m not sure why the process broke down. I’m really sorry. That was an egregious error on our part.

The 8.1 release notes (contained in the help file) are copied below. You can see the bug fixes and upgrades that occurred since 7.3.4. Maybe it will help you decide. BTW, your bug was listed as “10225 Derived equations involving ascii processing not maintaining history during scrollback or exporting properly” and the duplicate10028 Derived parameter has incorrect results with Ascii derived data”.

As far as 8.1 goes, the only semi-serious known problem we have is an issue with the video processing. In fact, Wade from SN brought this to our attention. The frame rate in the avi file was mis-stamped by a factor of 0.001, so in post test the file played just a tiny bit slower than the rest of the data. After 3 hours, there was an 11 second discrepancy between the Iads clock and the video overlay time stamp. We have already fixed this issue and I believe Wade has a patch.

Hi Jim We will be needing the patch, This will get us an operationally capable test setup for our latency testing. I am guessing this patch will supplement the 7.3.4 version as the previous patch did.

Is there a specific place, that I can go to view all bug or minor, and major issues associated with our specific IADS versions? We will be staying at 7.3.4 until ACRA blesses another software increment, however I would like to become familiar with bugs that implicate the 7.3.4.
