Hi,

I have problems in stitching 4 pictures from a sony a5000 (aps-c) and meike 6.5 f/2.0 manual lens.
I choosed "fisheye circular lens" and I inserted a 190 degree HFOV value (as for meike specs) and also 185 degree HFOV, maybe more accurate.
I also cropped the circular fisheye images in Hugin crop tab as suggested in the forum but I obtained strange stitched image.
The pictures may be downloaded here:

If anyone could give a try in stitching the images and give any suggestions it would be a great help for me.

Thank you.

OK, I've taken a look at this. By accident I used the panomatic
control point detector instead of cpfind, and it only found relations
between some of the images, not unusual for panomatic. But with
cpfind it went completely crazy until I cropped the images. And then
it still didn't find any control points between some of the images.

I've found in the past that an attempt to add control points manually
is doomed to failure, so I added some first and then ran “Align†.
Yes, it closed the panorama, but badly, and I discovered that it did
not add any additional points at all.

Why? Clearly a limitation in cpfind; I have them as well, and I'm
still trying to understand them. But one thing struck me: the images
are not overly sharp. Looking at the 1/4000 s shutter speed and the
ISO 100, I would assume that you took these images at maximum f/2
aperture. You might make life easier for the control point detectors
if you stop down to, say, f/4 or f/5.6.

I'm attaching the project file that I generated with the manual
control points. You might like to play around with it.

I also downloaded the images. I didn't have any problems finding control
points with cpfind. I don't know what projection et al to use for these
kinds of images, so the best I ended up with was a bunch of jagged bits
of images scattered all over.

Thank you.

I do not have Meike anymore so I can not try new images. Hugin detects
cp with cpfind except in two images which I manually added..

Probably the images are not in right focus: in other images I took
with Meike to test focus distance I put focus distance at 1 mt and
they are in focus but these images are not in a pano sequence. Also I
am not sure the Npp is much accurate.

I tried with a trial version of Ptgui and it stitches with some errors
in seams: I think that is due to the Npp inaccuracy. Ptgui has a
specific entry for Meike 6.5 fisheye on APS-C sensor and you do not
need any crop.
BTW in Ptgui the lens HFOV is 187 degree and focal length is 6.59.
I tried to put these values in Hugin but if I put 6.59 focal length it
returns 207 degree Hfov, which clearly is not.

When loading the images in Hugin and cropping the image in the crop
tab if I open the quick preview tab I see the first image is not
circular but somewhat "oval" and it does not fit with the upper and
down limits, i.e. it is smaller..
I do not know what that means but I suppose Hugin does not recognise
that as a circular fisheye image.
Perhaps an accurate calibration of the lens would be necessary but I
do not know how to do.

In had not any isues stiching provided pictures.
Result is not perfect, but I did not do any fine-tunning and adding control points to problematic places.
Result is uploaded here: https://imgur.com/M5eqNqg
Project file is attached.

Process was:
  1. drag and drop images to hugin expert interface
  2. input 7mm focal length, 1.6 crop factor, circular fisheye lens type
  3. crate control points with cpfind
  4. optimize position - incremental, starting from anchor
  5. optimize position and view
  6. optimize position, view and barrel
  7. optimize everything without translation
  8. set output projection to equirectangular and clicked calculate field of view button
  9. found out, that there are not control points between image 0 and 1
  10. so selected those two images and let cpfind find control points
  11. optimize position and view
  12. optimize everything without translation
  13. clicked calculate optimal size
  14. stich

Thank you very much!
Errors may be due to not accurate npp.
What I did was to put a crop factor of 1.52 which I usually use for my
APS-C sony camera.
Interesting that you do not need to crop the image in the crop tab
which I believed is needed with circular fisheye images.
I take note and in the case I will buy a Meike I will follow the
process you found.

Hi Giuseppe,
sorry I forgot to write down that step.
You are right, I have done the crop. Crop has been done right after
step 2 (finished adding images to the project)
