I have followed the instructions here:

https://launchpad.net/~hugin/+archive/hugin-builds

And performed:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hugin/hugin-builds
sudo apt-get update

However, the latter command gave output ending with ...

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/hugin/hugin-builds/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-amd64/Packages 404 Not Found

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/hugin/hugin-builds/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I am running:

lsb_release -a
LSB Version: core-2.0-amd64:core-2.0-noarch:core-3.0-amd64:core-3.0-noarch:core-3.1-amd64:core-3.1-noarch:core-3.2-amd64:core-3.2-noarch:core-4.0-amd64:core-4.0-noarch:core-4.1-amd64:core-4.1-noarch
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release: 14.04
Codename: trusty

Hi Paul,

I am not sure, but it looks like there is no compiled package for your version of ubuntu (trusty). Take a look at the page you've mentioned (https://launchpad.net/~hugin/+archive/hugin-builds) where we can see precise, quantal, raring, saucy and others but trusty.

Trusty is mentioned above, but down there, where the packages are listed, it is not.

Bests,

The PPA you reference only holds the latest _released_ Hugin versions.
At the moment, this is 2013.0. However, for trusty this version
already is available from the standard Ubuntu repository [1].

There are some technical reasons I don't want to roll a 2013.0 version
of my own in this PPA. There is another reason, too: in the "next
Hugin builds" PPA [2], you can find the hopefully soon to be released
beta2 version of the brand new Hugin 2014.0. We would be much obliged
if you could give it a whirl and let us know if anything is broken.

I'd really appreciate this because up to date, only 23 downloads (22
for amd64, 1 for i386) have been registered for trusty (and 3 of them
where mine).

With kind regards

Stefan Peter

I have now tried it; I have so far noticed one (quite severe) fault;

The lower left panel of the fast preview dialog does not draw or redraw at all.

Snapshot attached.

The visible (blurred for privacy) ls(1) output is from another desktop before I switched
to the desktop with Hugin.

My windows management is LXDE/OpenBox.
