Hey guys,

I downloaded the precompiled version of Hugin. Unfortunally the automatic setting of control pints does not work. When I click on Pictures and dtect controlpoint automatically it says:

"Can not find patfree-panomatic in path".

I had an old version (2010 I think) installed before, which crashed everytime when saving files. maybe thats the problem?

Thank you!

Yes, this is the problem. You need to delete the ~/.hugin settings
file in your home directory, or 'Load defaults' in the Hugin
Preferences window.

Loading defaults did not work. I tried to delete the config file in my home folder, but could not find it. Where exactly is it?

It is a hidden file.
When viewing your home directory can you set your view to "show hidden
files"?

Yes, there is (a file). No, you didn't (mention any more information
than that you actually use a computer). Check out your Preferences
folder then. Thats the usual place for programs to store their prefs on
Mac OS X.

I use TinkerTool on Mac to enable display of hidden and system files (and lots of other options).

Prefs on Mac aren't hidden. ~user/Library/ contains a Preferences folder.

Oh, wait. Apple introduced a new "feature" in about 10.8 so the user's
/Library folder is indeed hidden.

The quick way to open it is to switch to Finder, type Shift+Cmd+G (or
select Menu "Go to" -> "Go to folder..." and in the dialog type
/users/<the short version of your account name>/Library/Preferences

Found and deleted it. But now Hugin exits the alignment with an unknown error. When pressing generate Panorama Hugin says it could not find any external programs and crashes suddenly

When you delete the old preferences file and start with a fresh Hugin
you should go through the Preferences and check if everything is set up
correctly. That includes choosing your preferred Control Point Detector
and if needed, configure it.

Also check enblend and enfuse in Preferences -> Programs

I did, now alignment of the pictures works, but hugin keeps on crashing when I click on create panorama saying "External program open not found in the bundle, reverting to system path."
