HErmes Lite 2 - No power output. I get monitor volume but no power output on SSB, CW, nor TUNE. I'm following all the instructions from the Google-Groups to enable PA and the filters from N2SDR, but I get no power out. I've done my research, just need some pointers. K6JWB

Hi John,

Have you just received the HL2? What software are you running and what is the version details from the title bar.

Cheers

I guess the PA is not enabled. In a non-HL2-aware SDR program,
this has something to do with the Apollo option.

And, be sure to calibrate settings in the PA menu.

So my next question is, what to do next? I’m a network engineer and a HAM/CB operator since 1976. I’ve googled and can follow instruction. What say you?

Thanx a Bunch! :) K6JWB

As per other posts, it is recommended to use the HL2 version of Thetis.  Your life will be easier.  You might also try other programs like SparkSDR, Quisk, SDRConsole, etc. to verify whether your issues are app or hardware.

Below is a working Thetis HL2 setup.  Note the Radio Model says HERMES LITE.  Since this version is HL2 aware several configuration items will be different and already set up for you.  Note the title bar version has HL2 in it.

Other items to check are the PA settings, here in this version it has values 0 to 100%.

And the other big one, the N2ADR filter board settings on the OC Control tab

Your PA should be on for 5W.

Do you have a specific link to the version of HL2 software you are referring to?

You've installed Thetis that's ideal for Anan radios, which is fine, but read this for the better suited Thetis for HL2..

Basically, after installing Thetis by 'ramdor' you can forget it and install Thetis by Reid/Mi0BOT and run that.

John –

Add this link to your desktop

This is for the latest HL2 Patches – with the link to the base Thetis that Reid has tested it on.

https://github.com/mi0bot/OpenHPSDR-Thetis/releases/

Follow the instructions to det up the directory structure and the HL2 specific files..

Hi John,

Most of the information you need is on the wiki:

This describes HL2 Thetis setup. For setup simplicity, use the HL2-specific version of Thetis linked on this page:

Other software (I use primarily Quisk and SparkSDR) are desribed here:

If you are still having problems with no RF output, follow this wiki page:

If you finally think it is a faulty HL2, provide as must detail as you can regarding your results when you worked through the No-Transmit wiki page, and then follow the repair wiki page:

Is it not Apollo which should be checked rather than Alex ?

I think I’ve found the issue.
Using the latest beta 2.10.2.2beta1
The Virtual j16 pinouts weren’t selected in the Filters setup and there’s no reset or N2DAR button to press. So I checked all the RX/TX boxes and saved the config, then restarted the application and I made my first contact! Also instead of hearing my voice and the relays and seeing 0Watts, Now I’m seeing 80-90% wattage output on the App, and seeing 3-5 output on the Ameritron meter.

One Step at a time! Now I’m off to get the amplifier setup!. This will be a good weekend for sure!
Special Thanx a bunch! 😄 to those who posted the set-by-step setup, troubleshoot and repair links. They were very helpful!

Are you sure you are definitely running a HL2 aware version of Thetis? You should be able to see the N2ADR button. Check the title of the Thetis window.

OK, so your not running the Beta, that is the official Thetis release. You should have downloaded a zip file and extracted it to a suitable directory ie. C:\OpenHPSDR. There is a Thetis.exe inside the release directory - that is the version you should be running.

Reid, I’m confused as there seems to be different instructions on which download to use. Do you have the specific link you mentioned earlier that I need? I’m seeing a two replies that both lead to a “Ramdor” version that only has a .MSI installer, and the one I just found with an .exe I used and ran, still no reference to N2ADR button. I’m so confused :) K6JWB

https://github.com/mi0bot/OpenHPSDR-Thetis/releases was given in one of the earlier messages. In the "Assets" section, download the version for your computer, which would be the x64 for Windows 64 bit.

Run the version of Thetis.exe that is included in the above zip.

Reid, I just downloaded the 64bit version and looks like the first time I actually DL (as there was no “1” next to the file name)…

I’m gonna try this one and respond ASAP. It’s a work day here and 2:34PM Los Angeles time on a Tuesday. So I might have to stop playing and start getting some $$ in the bank :) Keep this thread open, I’ll be responding over the next few days. Thank you very much! K6JWB.

Here is a link to the HL2 version.  Unzip this into a separate directory and then use the .exe file in that location.  The msi you installed from is just part one of the process.

https://github.com/TAPR/OpenHPSDR-Thetis

This may help you with the setup after you get the Hermes version installed.

Hope this helps

I apologize - cut and paste error.  I see that you already have been sent the proper link.  I meant to send you to the top of the repo

I am using 2.10.0.0

Good Afternoon:

Here is my update so far;
1) Went back to the official Beta Release 2.10.2.2 x64 beta1 release.
2) Set all the HermesCtL to look like N2ADR filter settings.
3) Able to achieve full 5w Power output
4) Made several contacts on 10m with 5w.
5) Made audio changes for RX, TX is set to 0db mic gain and 4db comp.

So Far so good.

ISSUES:
1) SWR is averaging 1.5-18 even after changing two adapters and patch cords. Also tested with Dummy load. Can’t seem to understand the SWR Spike.
2) ADC1 overload warning on TX. Need to figure out what to turn down. I’ve already tried adjusting the mic/comp, and TX power.

#progress
