Can someone tell me if there is such a thing as an idiots guide to the Hermes-lite. I am new to this radio and there is so much written about it, and all I would like to do is start it up and make sure it's working correctly.

Since the HL2 is a networked SDR with no controls on the front panel, basic start-up depends on with which compute device you plan on running the HL2: Window, Linux, PiHPSDR console, Mac, Android, or iOS device; how you plan on connecting the HL2: via WiFi, wired router, or just a cable; as well as which SDR software you plan to try running.

You want to look at some of these videos probably...
In particular install Quisk and follow the Quisk Setup video then check the PA Bios setup video. It's highly unlikely you will need to adjust the PA Bios setting but it's worth check to make sure it's in range of where it should be. Mine was fine as it was. Test the radio out using Quisk first to make sure everything is working properly. If you switch to other software and run into issues then you know it's not a hardware problem.

IMHO the very best place to start is to give the Wiki a thorough read through, but perhaps starting with the FAQ, then work way down the Wiki index on right of page. It tells you just about everything you could need to know to get started:
If you are a Windows user then I can't recommend SDR Console highly enough as the software companion to HL2. It's pretty much install and go. If you need help there is a very supportive IO Group to help you out.

Hi all, Re SDR Console, Simon's latest beta release has a new Noise reduction option, NR5, my initial testing shows it to be on par with NR2 in Thetis.
