Team,

I can't get TurtleBot4 Simulator to launch.

Script capture of launch and output attached as Turtlebot4Errors.txt.

Eventually stopped with ^C when clear it was lost.  Additional shutdown output followed.

Environment: Dell Inspiron 17 laptop (CORE i7) / Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy / ROS2 Humble

TurtleBot4 Simulator from https://turtlebot.github.io/turtlebot4-user-manual/software/simulation.html

Oddly I got it to launch before, but the simulated robot would not respond to commands by any means even though cmd_vel topic was publishing.

Thinking I had installed/reinstalled and fooled around too much, I decided to completely reinstall the OS from scratch.  Almost hosed my laptop when the OS install crashed and booted up to GRUB>.  Fortunately was able to Google a solution and salvage the situation.

But now, with a pristine environment, I can't get TurtleBot4 Simulator to fully launch.

Chat GPT4 was no help, just run-arounds.

Issue posted to the TurtleBot4 Github is awaiting a response.

Y'all's insight and solution would be greatly appreciated!

Two problems:

[spawner-32] [ERROR] [1712340278.697751820]
[spawner_joint_state_broadcaster]: Controller manager not available
[ERROR] [spawner-32]: process has died [pid 38091, exit code 1, cmd
'/opt/ros/humble/lib/controller_manager/spawner joint_state_broadcaster
-c controller_manager --ros-args -r __ns:=/'].

not sure, what that was. But a premature death is usually cause for
concern?! You'll have to figure out, which process that was and why it
died:-(

2. The gazebosim web site seems to have problems as well. All the
requests to get the 'data' for the simulated world receive a 504/server
error:-(

[ruby $(which ign) gazebo-1] [Err] [FuelClient.cc:717] Failed to
download model.
[ruby $(which ign) gazebo-1] Server: https://fuel.ignitionrobotics.org
[ruby $(which ign) gazebo-1] Route:
openrobotics/models/warehouse/tip/warehouse.zip
[ruby $(which ign) gazebo-1] REST response code: 504
[ruby $(which ign) gazebo-1] [Wrn] [FuelClient.cc:1978] The
fuel.ignitionrobotics.org URL is deprecrated. Pleasse change
https://fuel.ignitionrobotics.org to https://fuel.gazebosim.org

You might have better luck on Monday/later;-)

Sorry, no silver bullet;-)

Marco, et al.

I investigated the controller_manager failure.  It is present in the system per 'find'.  Reinstall stated already latest version.  I've searched through the various launch files and can't find a reference to controller_manager.  What is it supposed to do?  Is it related to the retrieve world names failure below?

https://www.siteground.com/kb/504-gateway-timeout/#:~:text=At%20times%2C%20incorrect%20proxy%20settings,to%20reach%20the%20Settings%20page.

--Indicates 504 is a Gateway Timeout error. If I try either

https://fuel.ignitionrobotics.org or

https://fuel.gazebosim.org

I get 404 page not found errors.

If I drop the 's' and http:// I get 'site not secure'.

Will post question to

https://robotics.stackexchange.com/
