Team, 

I am receiving Philips monitor data in the ORU^R01 message type, but it does not include any patient identification information. Instead, we are receiving the monitor ID/ specific device name/room name as unique identifiers in each message.

How can I find the exact patient using the monitor ID/ specific device name/ room name? Shall you please guide me on how to refer to the globals and retrieve the corresponding patient in VistA?

you may need to look up the machine in the CLINICAL PROCEDURES manual.

Hi!

What is the model of the monitor?
Is the monitor integrated with a monitoring center or gateway from the manufacturer? If not, it is necessary to admit the patient to the monitor using the ID (this can be the patient's ID, the ID from the service, the medical record, etc.)

the HEALTH RECORD number allows you to add extra identifiers to the IHS PATIENT records

If you want, you could add a Health Facitly for the Philips monitor and then just use its ID number as a HEALTH RECORD number.

I believe there is a patient movement system so you can track which patients are in which beds, I beleive.  Dave, could they tap into that for the information they are seeking?

I think it depends on what information they have in the instrument. 
this is clearly an HL7 message coming into VistA, which are straightforward to handle, linking through the PROTOCOL file #101. 

It really depends on the message coming in. 

maybe the PID segment or PV1 segment has useful information that can be used to properly attach the results
