'Inside the BJP's Playbook for Wresting West Bengal'
Quite interestingly, it doesn't pin much hope on a presumed massive wave of sub-terranean "anti-incumbency" - as had, arguably, been the case back in 2011.
It rather cites a bouquet of factors: "the BJP camp thinks it has multiple reasons for its confidence that it will win Bengal, which has 294 seats."
Nonetheless, repeatedly harps on the Goliath vs. David analogy.
Just to recall, in 2011, Mamata Banerjee was truly the David - the (maverick) underdog fighting for the underdogs.
The LF - ruling for unbroken 34 years and with its strongarm tactics bundled with all-too-ugly arrogance, the classical Goliath.
The Prime Minister of India, consistently boasting of 56" chest and visibly driving a steamroller over his (real and presumed) opponents, and institutions, can play anything but a David.
In order to win, he needs other tricks.
The open noisy - at times violent, squabbling among significant sections of local cadres, announced candidates refusing tickets and empty chairs greeting the paradropping star campaigners are hardly any good omen.
In order to save the day, Modi indeed very much needs a massive wave of sub-terranean "anti-incumbency" against the current ruler of the state to exist.
Poised to burst into a tsunami (only) on the polling day(s).
Only that can - if really so, explain away the empty chairs and, maybe, tide over the, apparently, escalating chaos that the BJP is, at the moment, confronted with.
Let's see.
