Error importing MySQL dump that includes geometry

Hi, 
We have two Cloud SQL instances, one for production, one for testing. Periodically, we export a dump from production, and import it into testing so that the environments stay roughly in sync.

However, since we started storing geometry in our production instance, we can no longer import the dumps into the testing instance:

The dump is fine; I can load it into a local MySQL instance on my development machine.

Any work arounds for this?
